Best offensive catcher since Johnny Bench (but not better). First ballot shoe-in.

May not get first ballot, but great nembers for the position he played. He will probably get first ballot, but I wouldn't give him my vote.

Yea they will look at his OFFENSIVE contributions. He's a "no doubter"

An easy lock for first ballot, unless some weird steroid story about him breaks. Piazza is the best offensive catcher in the history of the game. Better than Bench, better than Berra. While Mike's arm wasn't all that great, in the long run the Hall tends to care more about production at the plate, and Mike certainly has those numbers well in hand. The most prolific home run hitting catcher of all time certainly goes 1st ballot.

I think he'll go in, but only after a few ballots. He played for some high profile teams, and hit well, but his defense was poor, and as a catcher that might limit his chances in the first few ballots he's eligible for.

Has slowed down big time, and at this point in his career that's understandable. He remains one of the best catchers ever career-wise. A notch below Johnny Bench, but that's nothing to cry about.

Gotta give it to him. It'll be fun watching him in the NL West again.

Will go in for sure. Hes the best hitting catcher of all time and one of the best of his generation. I dont think he will be a first ballot hall of famer but will defiently be in by his second time around. His defence lacked but his offence made up for it.

Will certainly go in, but possibly not until a second or third ballot. His defense, or more correctly his lack of defense will hurt him, but not enough to deny him the hall.

Though his batting numbers are a slightly-watered down combination of Mickey Cochrane for average and Johnny Bench for power, his defense behind the plate is marginal. I always have a problem with where to pigeonhole Piazza, but I think he's in the Top-10 catchers -- though no higher than 8th (Off the top of my head, Bench, Berra, Carter, Dickey, Cochrane, Fisk, and Pudge Rodriguez are better). But if they got Ray Schalk and Rick Ferrell in the Hall of Fame, I reckon we can get Piazza on the second or even first ballot.

Piazza has the best offensive numbers for a catcher of all time, which should get him in. His immense popularity won't hurt with the voters, and will probably get him in his first time around.
