 | EschewObfuscation (61) 12/05/2005 | I think that the US was lucky to survive Bill Clinton's presidency with only 9/11/01 to pay for his foreign policy weakness and incoherence, both militarily and personnel-wise. This frumpy windbag was too busy lying (knowingly) about Clinton's Oval Office indiscretions to care about the growth of islamofascist terrorism or that Saddam had defied nearly EVERY UN sanction enacted against his government on her watch. I wonder what she was trying to distract the American people from knowing when she said this.
The UN became a complete shambles under her "leadership" as did nearly every agreement Clinton signed or agreed to. Think again about North Korea gaining concessions from the US, solemnly swearing to suspend their nuclear development program. How tough was it to dupe Madeleine? But, according to the US press, her dress, and hat, looked great.
When Colin Powell succeeded her it was like the parents came home to relieve the 13 year old babysitter. I know, I know: Bush made him lie, he lied to the UN (!), blah, blah, blah. When Powell took over you couldn't blame republicans, conservatives and moderates for breathing a sigh of relief in that there would finally be some adults in charge of geopolitical diplomacy.
