 | LanceRoxas (40) 12/29/2005 | I use to complain about these things all the time. I could never understand how someone could use their limited means to buy luxuries, name brand clothes and expensive electronics. But one day Fern pointed out to me that these people really lack the ability to see beyond those things and for most part lack the ability to accomplish things beyond the attainment of those goods. That those goods make them content and happy. And for most part I started to realize she was correct. I mean, everyone can't aspire to have great things or understand investment in home ownership with nice location is something you should look the achieve. So yeah, if Cleetus wants a satellite dish so he can watch Rusty Wallace in the FireCracker 500 on Saturdays instead of ever moving out of his trailer, so be it. Sure it's low class but as long as they're not living off the government dole they can go ahead and buy anything they damn well please.

 | jamestkirk (23) 12/28/2005 | Even more frequent are the folks who do this while living in public housing. Not only do they have the high-price electronics, they also have Italian-leather furniture. In addition, their refrigerator is more full than mine since they receive around $700/monthly in food stamps. This is not an exaggeration because in my profession I have seen it quite a few times through the years. Now, is there any wonder why average-income Americans are becoming more and more conservative politically and vote Republican during general elections?

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 11/05/2005 | Not so fast. Satellite equipment is free to new customers and some trailer dwellers live in no cable areas.

 | scarletfeather (47) 11/05/2005 | Personally, I would rather live in a nice house with just bare-bones cable, but that's just me.
