Edwin 4

Mine is Edward, although I wasn't particularly crazy about the name when I was younger (for some reason, I wished back then that I had been named Sam or Simon...who knows why?). I preferred Edward to Edwin, but I thanked God daily that my parents at least hadn't saddled me with "Edgar". My birth name was Thomas Francis, in the foster home I was in for several months some caregiver took to calling me Jonathan, and after being adopted, my parents were thinking of naming me James, but ultimately decided on "Edward" after considering the abundance of people named James in their family. The only "Edwin" I ever knew of was a kid in high school who went by the nickname of "Chip" (to my extreme displeasure, when I was in my freshman year of high school, my parents moved from ethnic north Jersey to a WASPish area in central Jersey where people went by nicknames like "Chip", "Skip", "Biff", etc., although we lived on the edge of the Italian section of town, where people had earthier nicknames like "Nutsy" and "Tooch".). As a kid, people called me "Eddie"; as I got older, I insisted they call me by the more mature sounding "Ed". Ironically enough, when I'm around people I knew in my childhood now, they still call me "Eddie" and I don't mind anymore.

Edwin 4

Of the few Edwins that I've met, I think they all either go by Ed or Eddie. Until something official came up, I had always assumed their name was Edward.

Edwin 3

Edward is better, but Edwin will pass. The nick name is respectible.
