 | mattg (0) 07/10/2005 | To talk foolishly at length. Not as uncommon as 'prated'. 'Prattled' is the only synonym I can think of with similar connotations. As with 'prated', 'chattered' and 'babbled' would usually suffice.

 | James76255 (26) 06/23/2005 | I use this one from time to time, or a form of it. Most often when referring to someone in third person, as in, Bob was blathering about something. I don't think it's pompous.
