 | Loerke (46) 01/12/2008 | To say that tattooing is a simply sign of lower class standing is oversimplified. I don't personally find them at all attractive, and you might have your own definition of "classy" behavior which defines tattoos as "low-class," but social standing isn't always signified by them, since there are plenty of rich hipsters who frequent tattoo parlors, whether it's trust-fund kid Jeffrey, the winner of last year's Project Runway who has enough crazy writing all over his face and neck to make a Maori proud, or the rich and idle heiress Nicole Richie, or Angelina Jolie ... the list goes on and on. I guess I would make a partial exception for tattoos on the inner wrist, because here in Boston having a "dot" tattooed there is a sign of "Southie pride," which is probably as much as an ethnic as a class thing.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 01/12/2008 | Nothing says ex-con like tattooed fingers or one of those teardrop tatoos.
UPDATE: I'm thrilled that this is tops on the list and my item is even beating Jerry Frickin' Springer. Yes, numbah knows low class...

 | X Factor Z (13) 11/21/2006 | Having a tattoo most anywhere actually, I always hated those things because yes, I equated tattoos to lower class trash, or prison scum...but since bad people have so many of then people think they are hip or cool...really.

 | HistoryFan (98) 03/28/2006 | Yep...I see some semi-homeless dude on the bus all the time with a tattoo on his hands (I think). He also has a pegleg, which is quite rare for leg amputees nowadays.

 | jamestkirk (23) 12/28/2005 | I have been suprised by the number of people whom I have seen that have actually done this. Not attractive at all, to say the least.

 | souljunkie (20) 12/20/2005 | I think we are all off track here a little on this list. All these things are common in "low class" types, and while you can find a lot of them on lower income groups it isnt the rule. Here is another example. You might as well have a sign on your head saying "im an idiot and a loser". YOu might want to include a neck tatoo in this bunch.

 | SZinHonshu (44) 11/07/2005 | I suppose this could be a sub-category of Getting a Tattoo, but I agree with numbah. Having your face, hands or neck marked up indicates either A) poor taste, B) a criminal record, C) gang affiliations or a combination of some or all of these components.
