When you could just keep hitting him with the shovel?

I'm mixed on this one, because it seems to me that you can't win either way. If you check to see if he's dead, he grabs you, and if you don't check, he always shows up someplace later, usually when you're naked. Either way, you lose. I'm with most of the people on here, keep on doing damage until there's nothing left.

I'm with numbah on this one; I wouldn't check to see if he's dead, I'd just reload and give him a few more shots for good measure. Plus, you'd be better off if you either decapitate him or take out his kneecaps.

Of course. But, also, after you kill the bad guy, walk away weeping and have one of those Thank god, its all over looks on your face, with a big sigh of relieve.

Never fails in almost every suspense movie. the killer lays there looks to be dead. and the dumb fool victim always walks up to them or turns their back and the bad guy springs up to to kill the victim. Of course usually the victim gets the chance to really kill the bad guy in the end.

Put a few more shots in him first.

This is one of the first rules of horror movies. I'll be watching one with my friends and we'll yell no! don't turn your back! If I was ever chased by a psychotic murderer, not only would I shoot him once, but I would bludgeon and stab him repeatidly until I was sure he was dead. Then I'd turn my back and he'd STILL be alive...

Don't to check to see if the bad guy is dead. He isn't. Just run!

Certainly not the first time, or possibly the second or third, depending on how cheesy the director is.

Because regardless of the severity of his wounds (including decapitation and the removal of his heart and lungs) he is NOT going to die for at least another 20 minutes. And, in addition, he will retain full motor skills and strength until he drops for the last time.
