Condi has shown herself to be an extremely capable, well spoken woman who has greatly mitigated the Bush disaster. She has both substance and style, and is far better than either presidential candidate at the moment.

Dr. Rice is very qualified in the area of national security and foreign policy. I'm not sure of her credentials in other areas, but she is very intelligent appears level headed.

I cannot see Rice as a candidate for anything. She is one of those people who looks good on paper but in reality does not perform. She was one of the worst NSA ever, and she had no problem blaming subordinates when mistakes came to light. This provided me major insight into her character. She also showed a marked willingness to lie to the public when it was convenient like when she said the administration had no idea that terrorist would use hijacked planes weapons. Any news junkie knew better than that. I can site sspecific incidents as I have been paying attention. If she had been as obsessed with Al-Queda as she was with missile defense perhaps Mr. Bush would have taken terrorism more seriously. The idea of this woman with any executive responsibility anywhere is scarey.

The unfortunate thing is this woman is most likely to be the first, like her or not. I like the fact shes well spoken, well educated and dresses well, but as a person I just simply don't like her. Honestly who and what does she represent? Shes in politics for herself. She doesn't represent women and she sure as hell doesn't represent black people. Good luck to her.

Her lap-dog house-negro approach to whatever-dubya-says-is-gospel will eventually hurt her in one polictial or social form or another. . .dubs managed to chase out a real black candidate and make a liar out of him in front of the UN - Colin Powell. People with integrity have left DC some time ago. . .

Too much of a hawk. I like her drive and obvious intelligence but it drives me nuts that she so ardently buys into and defends the Star Chamber propaganda. Give me a break, Bush would cry if she laid into him and Cheney probably calls her a "broad" - but only when she's not around. She's got to lose those zeroes.

Too many question marks here. She does have a discernable base in the Republican party, but her electoral performance will be predicated largely by how well the Bush administration is doing 1 to 2 years down the road. If they are not doing too well, primary voters might want to move towards something new. Rice's close connection with Bush might be a liability later on, especially in a general election.

I've heard her described as a white man trapped in a black woman's body.

She's been tainted of late, but she would still be a strong candidate but for her choice of parties. She can't win the Republican nomination. Perhaps as an independent, but then she'd be splitting the conservative vote.

She's so sharp it's almost scary. She would rip Hillary to shreds in a national debate despite the national media bending over backwards to help get Hillary in the White House like they did for Kerry. I doubt Condi will run in '08, but she's the best choice for the Republican party.

You can't start at the top in the Presidential business, usually, and get away with it. Ike did it, but he was unique. You must start lower, win an office here and there--get tested. Look what happened to Wesley Clark, Ross Perot and the others.

A lot of baggage to carry, and may be unelectable in the primaries.

Bush lapdog. Country needs a different focus...even if it's from a different republican not associated with Bush's circus.

As I write this, I am seriously considering supporting the very early (and very long shot) effort to draft her for 2008. I respect Dick Morris' opinion of her, and generally agree with his assessment of her skills and abilities. I also relish the prospect of a Hillary/Condi showdown. It is a sad fact of politics in the US that a black woman could not carry even 20% of the black vote in a national election in the early 21st century, due to her party affiliation.

Oh I hope not unless she changes her tune and gets away from the Bush way of thinking.
