I think this is probably baseball's best shot to creating a more equal playing field. Whether you agree with it or not, there is no question that the teams that are having success are those in the larger markets and have enormous cable TV contracts. If MLB is not worried about the long-term effects on fans in say Kansay City, Pittsburg, Minneapolis and Milwaukee then by all means forget about revenue sharing, but it might be a long time before one of those teams sees a penant, much less a World Series.

I'm normally opposed to such Marxist nonsense, but I see Major League Baseball as a single company. The Yankees may make a bunch of money, but they won't if there aren't any good teams to play against. Sharing might be a good idea.

While teams compete with each other, MLB as a whole is a business. Revenue sharing, real revenue sharing as opposed to the lipservice that gets paid to it now, makes a lot of sense. However, it still doesn't fix the problem of boneheaded management making boneheaded personnel decisions. That problem supercedes money, and is probably unfixable

The have to share the goodies or else the league will continue to suffer- no one will care about baseball if only 4-5 teams are competitive each year. . .check out the horrible TV ratings from baseball if you aren't convinced. . .

I don't agree with certain teams giving up some of their revenue in order to bail out teams who don't put enough effort into creating a decent organization. Why should the Devil Rays owner make money because of the Yankees success. It doesn't make sense.
