Yeah, the storyline was weak and this book shouldn't have been made into a movie. It just leads up to what happens in the 5th one. Pros and cons....Pros,Somewhat good acting. Cons, no quidditch!!!!! only that 30 second scene in the beginning.

While I've enjoyed all the H.P. films this one is not for young children. It definately explores the darker side and has quite a lot of violence. I guess what I'm trying to say is this film seems to be aimed at an adult audience while the series is directed toward young people. Mighty dark images for such a young fan base.

I liked this movie but it was not the best movie. There were too many things left out and they changed things that kept getting on my nerves, like the scene where Neville gives Harry the gillyweed in the movie, in the book it was Dobby, but he is not in the movie at all. This movie is a little darker and at the end Cedric Diggory gets murdered. We also see the rebirth of Lord Voldemort in this movie.

Probably me least favorite of the ones that have been released. Story was weak and it ran a little slow at times.

I swear by Odin's Holy Trousers and Thor's Holy Helmet, I have tried and tried to find something interesting or at least socially redeeming in the Harry Potter movie series. I beg to report that I have failed. I give it a two since it is helping agriculture by selling popcorn.

Each movie in this series is a little more tedious and predictable than the last. This is no exception.

First of all, it's Harry Potter. Also, this one was the best one yet. Dan, Rupert, & Emma get better in each movie. The one flaw with this movie, (besides the fact that they cut out the entire Quidditch World Cup ((!!))), poor Cedric Diggory dies! :'( *Tear*. But, all the same, Mike Newell does a spectacular job as does the rest of the cast & crew. JK DOES IT AGAIN!!!!

A film which is a step up from the first three. The first was good, the second wasn't and the third was better, but the fourth has no real weaknesses, with good acting, storyline and directing. I recommend this movie to almost anyone (4/5 stars)

I've never read any of the Harry Potter books and I thought the first two movies were too childish and the third was definitely a step up, but this movie blew me away. The children experience the pain of growing up and the movie moves into darker territories. The acting, directing, and story are all solid. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I can't wait for the next Harry Potter movie!

My favorite movie. Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe did great once again.

Well, I shouldn't be surprised: if you keep putting out variations on the same idea, you're bound to eventually end up with some threadbare results, and here it is. From the cryptic opening sequence to the bland ending, GOBLET OF FIRE is the least-entertaining of the POTTER film franchise, and there's plenty of blame to go around. First, Rowling should have insisted on a better and longer script (an extra 45 minutes was sorely needed throughout). Secondly, Mike Newell is NOT the director for this style of movie (if it's gonna go in a darker direction, I'd like to see a Michael Mann or Ridley Scott-type taking the reins). Speaking of "dark", why'd it have to be SO bereft of lighting (you were able to see, and therefore appreciate, everything that went on in the first two, but this one looked as if it had been shot through cheesecloth from the arm of someone's long-sleeved jacket). A veritable jumble of actors with nothing to do (some, like Filch, Snape, Dumbledore, and Hagrid, reduced to clownish shells of their former selves), never more glaring than with the main characters: Radcliffe's forced expressions, and Grint's oddly-misplaced jealousy (and even wonkier make-up scenes). What really killed me was the waste of Emma Watson: they decided that instead of having her saving Harry's bacon (again), she'd end up as arm candy for some Slavic dink (how's THAT for ruining one of the stronger females in film today?). I've heard this described as "FAST TIMES AT HOGWARTS", but that'd be quite a misnomer, as NO ONE was getting laid (in fact, the apathetic awkwardness that settled over everyone who came into contact with members of the opposite sex had a profound denial of reality about it). Voldemort wasn't the tiniest-bit frightening or interesting (and was again dispatched with too much ease). I sat through two more viewings of this, thinking that I had missed a whole lot of subtle nuance, but that just wasn't the case. This disc will soon be going to the first "lucky" Ebay bidder to wave a few dollars in my direction.

it wasn't as good as I thought it would be actually but it was enjoyable. I thought it would be scary. Cause I read in a magazine that Emma Watson got scared and she was on the set! It didn't scare me at all.

This movie really lived up to the book! I was so worried that they would ruin it! The book really had a lot to it so I figured they would cut out a lot but all the important parts were in there. As for the movie standing alone, it was awesome. Dont base your judgements on the first couple of movies because this one is the best so far.

A fantastic movie and the best in the series so far, with a great combination of action, fantasy horror, adventure and teen romance to make an awesome blockbuster. Be warned that this is quite a scary movie and little kids might get scared.

Though it is getting damned with faint praise by the critics, I find (as a Potter non-reader) that the Potter stories get increasingly more compelling to the adult viewer. Goblet of Fire was an interesting and exciting movie. I liked seeing that while Harry can go toe-to-toe with the fiercest dragons and the evilest of Dark Lords, he can't get laid. You'd think he can just wiggle [both] his magic wands at the delightfully witchy and firm buttocks of Hermoine Granger and her Hogwarts' skirt would magically go up and her little black witch thong would go down. At last I get to see the bad-assed dude named Voldermort. As with most horror movies (except for Alien), what you imagine is far scarier than what you see on screen. Voldermort looked something like the lovechild of Nosferatu and the Creature from the Black lagoon. And if he's so damned evil, how could he let little Potter essentially kick the shiite out of him in a battle to the death. It would be like one of the Olsen Twins knocking out Mike Tyson. Of course, it's only a movie. The big issue is that this PG-13 is for real. Some stupid Daddio behind me took his six-year kid to watch th movie. Every 10 minutes, stupid Daddio is reassuring his kid, "It's not that scary, right?" Near the end of the movie, the 6-year old sounds like he's peed his pants in terror and is moaning at images of skeletons and blood and death. Idiot Daddio is going, "It's okay...you'll be alright." Li'l Dude is probably not going to be able to sleep for the next 10 years.

I'm neutral on this one... The fine points: The trio has developed remarkably over these movies, the difference between now and the first film are stunning. There were some terrific action scenes, and the chemistry between Ron and Hermione was palpable. The Likeability award goes to Rupert Grint for his humor in this, closely followed by James and Oliver Phelps, who thankfully, had many more speaking parts in this film. In addition, though the scene itself was sad, Daniel Radcliffe's scene immediately after the graveyard was amazing. The emotion he exuded absolutely could not have been done better Not so fine points: A choppy beginning (no explanation of the flying carriage and the rising ship?), a Fleur who looked more stiff and uncomfortable than beautiful and lithe, and a graveyard scene I wouldn't let a child under twelve anywhere near.

There was a lot to look at in this movie, but the story did not have the edge that the last one did. A little better than the first two though.

I have to agree with those who thought it was the weakest film so far. Worthwhile, but not spectacular.
BlueOrchid 12/14/2005
Yes, very choppy and rushed. It didn't seem that true to the book. They seemed to play on everything but what Harry had troubles with - i.e. his dreams. It also seemed like Harry and Cho really weren't that well connected. I felt like Sirius Black had no place whatsoever in the storyline - except for his few moments of glory when he appeared in the fire. Needless to say, I was highly entertained by Ron throughout the whole movie.
CherrySoda99 11/28/2005
Definetely the best of the 4 movies. Had a better and more mature story line to it, just like the book, and for the most part, stayed close to the book. The characters were better played, and the new characters ie: Cedric, Fleur, Krum, Cho, etc. were amazing. Great special effects in the challenges, especially the dragon scene, and very emotional and scary.

Written as a person who has never read any of the Potter books and has only seen the movies (and liked the previous three), I'm sorry to say this one was fairly weak in comparison to its predecessors. SYNOPSIS: Right before Harry's fourth year at Hogwart's (as a fourteen-year-old, I believe), Harry is troubled with nightmares and unfortunate events. When the Tri-Wizard tournament is announced, Harry is whisked up in events that go out of his control. All this, while his new teenage hormones are raging . . . needless to say, he's got his plate full. PROS: The start of the trio's teenage years is not unwelcome; they captured the awkwardness of youthful anxiety in dating very well. Very cute. The acting was fine, and the computer graphics again did a great job of enhancing the story. CONS: In the beginning of the movie, Harry is bewildered by his dreams and rushed into the next scene before he has a moment to catch his breath. That's pretty much how I felt throughout the whole movie. Half the time, I was wondering what the heck was going on. If the first three movies were like a brisk winding stream, this one was a waterfall spilling awkwardly over boulders. I can chalk up half of it to "random teenage strife", but the storytelling seemed choppy and rushed. OVERALL: Well, I don't know how true to the book it was, but this movie just didn't flow as well as the others. Worth watching though, if only to understand the storyline for the next installment.
