Never been there, never will. I've built too many long-term relationships with family owned and operated, main-street businesses that have been driven out of business by this multinational conglomerate. Spend your money here, and a small portion goes to local people at a less-than living wage. The rest of your money makes a brief stop in Bentonville, Arkansas. Most of your dollar spent with this retailer winds up in hideous factory towns in China, where after the requisite payments to labor brokers (we called them slave traders 300 years ago) , the bulk of it goes into building the infrastructure for CHINESE jobs over the next 40 years. ... but, hey, with the money you save, maybe you could learn to speak Mandarin.

I don't shop there, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
GenghisTheHun 06/02/2009
The only benefit I can see for Wal-Mart is that you can buy a lot of junk manufactured in China at a low price. The downside is that you can buy a lot of junk manufactured in China at a low price. This company is a bane on the economic life of the USA. It benefits from the brainless free trade slogans enacted by this country since the Kennedy presidency. The problem is that the free trade is all one way. This company destroys small businesses, disrupts communities, drives down wages, and is a good example of the kind of force that our modern society is throwing up to beggar the middle classes and ultimately turn our society into a small group of the very wealty and a large group of the have nots.

A high volume retailer of low-end merchandise. If it wasn't them, someone else would be selling the stuff because there appears to be an insatiable appetite for it. It's not going to destroy civilization, just make it more tacky.
SaGeDarkHorse 05/29/2009
Wait wait wait.. ssooo these little pussy ass bitches who can't compete with large supermarkets are saying that these LARGE supermarkets are causing increases traffic james or what the fuck ever?LOLSo having ass tons of little shitty stores doesnt make us waste gas? having to drive all over hells creations just to get what the fuck I want? Eat shit you little piss ants! Survival of the motha fucking most profitable & stable business. If you can't compete, sell your shit store and go else where. This isn't the stone age. We're not gonna go to some gay ass little store to buy a sack of apples where as we can buy a whole fucking orchard practically from a supermarket for the same price haha.

I could go on for 5 hours about why you shouldn't shop at Wal-Mart, but I'm a lazy, lazy man so I'll summerize.Wal-marts the Devil.1) The merchandise is built on childrens tears. Struggling mothers of 8 are forced to work 70 hour work weeks at substandard pay. Some sweatshops employ children.2)It destroys small towns (literally. I can show you graphs if you want)3) The majority of workers are women, but comparably few hold managment positions. In lawsuits against them, they have been found guilty of shredding evidence. 4) Most employees are uninsured. 5) Hires illegal aliens. 6) I fucking hate self-checkouts. I never use them, I'm not going to do someone elses job for them, and I'm not going to steal a job from some poor teenage sucker. Just because Wal-mart, Kroger, etc. is too damned cheap to hire somebody who needs the job.
quarterhorse51 04/13/2009
The biggest problems with Wal Mart are not having enough check outs, poor scheduling of employees at peak hours, and too many Chinese made products.
Rey de sombras 04/09/2009
Wal-mart's an evil corporation, who mostly treats its employees unfairly, but it's cheap prices does help low budget families.
CanadaSucks 04/07/2009
Classic good-and-bad scenario.Employs hicks who couldn't get into Harvard - that's good.Sells us more plastic shite built by children's hands in remote parts of Asia for slave-wage labor- Bad!Population sprawl has made this monstrosity somewhat necessary in some places. . .I've been to weird towns in America where the Wal-Mart was the only place I could shop for things I needed while traveling. Wal-Mart is a deal with Memphisopholes at its highest.
irishgit 04/06/2009
Its a great place to get cheaply made shite at a low price that breaks the second time you use it. "Buy cheap, you buy twice"And for those folks who winge about the loss of small town American values, don't whine at me if you shop here.
Binnietheblood ybooh 04/06/2009
Wal-Mart sucks! Thats all i have to say.
sk4u2009 03/18/2009
I happen to like wal-mart, sams club, etc........... when the economy is on such a decline, it helps to know, you can go to wal-mart and not spend all your money trying to feed and clothe your family
Astromike 03/16/2009
Screw all you people that hate Wlamart. Those "big evil corporations" create jobs. Not only that, but Walmart has EVERYTHING you can possibly need, with a wide variety and an affordable price.
kaylastarshine 02/28/2009
I am 100% for wal-mart. They have great prices, and if you are at a supercenter you can buy both groceries and pretty much anything else you could possible need. It is convenience all the way. Especially in a bad economy it's great to have a place that has lower prices. Simply put, they have good deals, if other chains want to compete they should lower their prices. Why should I have to shop at a local grocery store if I can go down the street to the Wal-Mart and save a substantial amount of money? Not to mention, maybe I am shopping and want to pick up a dvd or some other merchandise that would be at a grocery store? There is really no way around it, Wal-Mart has good prices, and to go to some local store and pay twice as much for groceries, then track down a video rental store only to rent a dvd for a week for a third or forth of the cost of owning it outright just sounds silly to me.

wal-mart is evil. there i said it.
Christine Sedita 12/11/2008
I think that they are helpful, Someone liek my mother cant afford to shop anywhere else, clothes are inexpensive, and so is food. She can get a replacement frying pan for less than 7 dollars, anywhere else it could be 20 dollars. I think the fact that has become a one stop shopping place, counteracts the 'air polution', problem. Local, small grocery stores, oftne make 50 percent profits on grocery goods, and often mark up their prices, on a regular basis, if they can take a hit, they would end up making more buisnes, which is walmarts concept.
Tony Galento 10/13/2008
It's a mixed bag. It's horrible in some ways but you can buy a lot of cheap shit there too.
SamanthaJean 10/13/2008
Convenient sure....but ya know...damn chains
sistapoetry 10/11/2008
I don't honestly know if the workers are getting paid enough and if they are covered with health insurance....I know everybody is crazy about Walmart prices but also stores like this put other stores out of business
LivvyLoo 10/10/2008
They're monopolizing the everything industry! But damn their low, low prices...
Dom5146 10/10/2008

While cheaper products and convenience helps ...megamarts have wiped out personable small business'...mom and pop stores are virtually non existant...

BY LAW I HAVE TO SAY ITS GREAT!! P.S. (I WORK IN ONE!)
Priest85 09/29/2008
I have known too many smaller stores that have tanked when WalMarts rocked their neighborhoods... While it is great that everything is right there under one roof at reasonable prices, it kills small businesses and entrepreneurs trying to make their way.
J@ME$ 09/27/2008
I dont really have any strong feelings about this one.
Allison446 09/27/2008
well when the poor struggle they dont think twice to save almost half on there total at walmart , then more somwhere else. It is horrible how walmart treats the other countries with unspeakable conditions, even the women in the usa get screwed out of money.
Dave3044 09/27/2008
Have helped to clode up mom & pop shops. If all that's left is Wal-fart then we'll all look the same same, because we are buying the same things.
scarletfeather 09/26/2008
I have very mixed feelings about Wal-Mart. On one hand, I shop there because the prices are very reasonable. On the other hand, I have heard so many stories about how crappy they treat their employees I almost feel guilty for shopping there.
Jay2391 09/25/2008
Wal-Mart helps our society because it sells products to consumers who want to save their money. It gives people employment and actually earn a paycheck.
BRANDIE5387 09/24/2008
Im poor. Wal-mart keep me going sometimes.LOL
Randyman 09/23/2008
I must really be ignorant or behind the times because I really don't get this one, and it's not just this list either, it's everywhere. What makes Wal-Mar tdifferent from , say, Target, Sears, or any other store? They are successful, but is that a crime? Or is it just a bunch of disagruntled employees stirring the pot?
ValkyrieVoice 09/23/2008
How could Wal-Mart be harmful to society?
KenSue!! 09/23/2008
Very bad. Ask those poor chinese people that were told they were coming to the United States and instead were taken to Saipan, a little island owned by the US but not part of our country that doesn't have to follow our laws. Where it's not illegal to chain people up to a sewing machine, and pay them 35 cents an hour but charging more than that for room and board. And if you want to do business with wal-mart you better be in a place like that because that is the only way they'll pay. Rock bottom prices, well that part is right. Numerous companies in the US alone have went under because they didn't do what Wal-Mart wanted by moving to a place like Saipan and Wal-Mart made sure that no one else would buy from them either. I have a lot more to say on the subject but I've typed so much my hand hurts.

What the critics don't say is that the smaller local merchants usually ran a monopoly on goods or services which often led to price gouging which was eliminated when competition from stores such as Wal-Mart and Costco appeared. And being multi-faceted, they create more jobs for those who would normally have to drive miles out of their way to find a job!
Sheronda 09/22/2008
FROM WHAT I HEAR............NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK..........OVER WORKED & UNDER PAID........"SLAVE DRIVERS." I LIKE SHOPPIN THERE, THOUGH. TARGET IS STILL , THE BOMB! WALMART, NEEDS TO SALE EXPLICIT CDs ALONG WITH THERE SENSORED.
Cara~Nina 09/22/2008
I love Wal-Mart.Especially supercenters, but on the other hand I probably wouldn't work for them.

Hello everyone loves wal-mart
LadyJesusFan77 7 04/17/2008
Anybody that shops at Wal-mart regularly can tell you that, thanks to our wonderful economy, nothing is cheap, not even at Wal-mart, and the quality of products is worse everywhere, not just Wal-mart.
