Abortions aside, how can anyone, in the world that we live in now, be against the universal access to birth control? Regardless of your view on abortion, the access to birth control PREVENTS people from NEEDING them, am I right? Or am I confused?
Are you stuck in some moral and religious time warp? Some people will argue that there are moral reasons to be celibate, but frankly, I'm sorry, I like sex. I really, really do. Does that make me a slut? Or immoral? Or does the fact that I like having sex exclusively with my HUSBAND make me an upstanding and moral exemplar? Am I wrong for being on the pill? Should I allow my body to become little more than a baby factory for children I do not want and cannot afford?
Regardless of your stance on abortion, I cannot understand why people are against the handing out of free condoms. Even if you don't believe in the pill, or horemone based birth control options, something like a condom, which not only prevents 99% of unplanned pregnancies (I consider poking a hole in it planned, by the way), as well as stopping the spread of disease, is a good thing.
Is it the age thing that's a problem? Kids are going to have sex: end of story. It's better that they're educated, especially young girls (13ish?). Young girls should know that sex is something they should consent to, that they should want when they have it for the first time, that it's something they can, and should, enjoy. And they should also feel confident to demand that the boy wears a condom, as a matter of respect for themselves.

I went to planned parenthood today. I am a 16 year old female girl in high school. I went there after reading all of your reviews but my experience was totally different. I went in, having never been there before, and simply said, "I am a walk in, i want to look into getting on birth control." The woman at the desk was nice, and she asked if i had previously used birth control and if my parents knew if i was there. I told her i have never had any before and that my parents do not know i am there and i want to keep it that way. She was very polite and helped me fill out my paperwork. I went into the exam room, they took my blood pressure, asked me questions, and talked about the different types of birth control. Then she had me pee in a cup, they tested for any stds. I was clean and they gave me a three month supply of the pill. It cost me a total of $11 and it took less than an hour.

For those rightwing, religiously-brainwashed clowns who condemn this organization, consider this: if Planned Parenthood and other entities in the abortion-providing industry weren't around to help women to terminate unwanted pregnancies, there would be about 40 million more unwanted, unprovided-for Americans than we already have.  Considering that this country can't even provide for the people we already have here, can you imagine what kind of social problems we'd have with 40 million unwanted wandering about?  Could you imagine the size of the welfare rolls, the level of crime, juvenile delinquency, physical illness, etc. that we'd have?  Ever think of it in pragmatic terms like that?  Of course not.  This gets in the way of impractical, inane and outmoded Christian dogma.  Actually, it's really impractical, inane and outmoded Christian dogsh*t.

I went to the local Florida chapter and it was so great!! The clinic is a little daunting I admit but the people working there were so nice. They did a rapid HIV test and the nice nurse that did it made conversation with me during the wait time so that I wasn't nervous. It was only $30 and I got my results in 20 mins! Most places take 24 hours and cost around $50. I would recommend Planned Parenthood to those looking for anonymous well-priced care.

I just went to my Local Planned Parenthood and the man at the front counter made me feel so stupid. I have been taking Birth Control for years. I was so upset when I left because I cant imagine how It would feel to be a scared teenager and have that type of service. I just wanted to post something to give people a heads up as to the service you might recieve.

People always try to bring up the argument that Planned Parenthood does a lot of things other than advocate abortions, and I'll admit they do, and some of those things are OK.

But here's my counterexample. If I help an old lady cross the street, then help my five year old neighbor get his cat out of the tree, then donate $1000 dollars to the local homeless shelter, but then go shoot my neighbor because his dog pooped in my yard, does that make me a good person becase I did three good things but only one bad thing?

Another place to get educated! I went on the pill in college to regulate myself. My room mate went in and when they asked her the questions, she didn't know so they made her take a class before putting her on birth control. Thanks again to my parents for the lessons taught...they told me they wished they saw more like me and I was on my way.

I'm sorry, I hate to be a hypocrite as I got one, but they really fail to tell you all the horrible things that could happen by getting an abortion. I know this won't affect anyone because when your scared, your scared and you think it's your only way out, but it's really not. After my procedure I bled for 8 weeks (im not exaggerating that at all). They kept telling me "Oh your fine, it's just your bodies reaction to it." Well I finally went to a respected hospital and they told me that they didn't get all the tissue so I was left with multiple infections, a lost child, and continuous bleeding. It was such an impersonal experiece, about 30 people there a day so they don't care who you are or why your there. I'm telling you, if your going to do it, you'd better be totally prepared.

The organization's name (a misnomer if I've heard one) indicates a facility where families expecting a child can meet with experinced, credible professions and discuss the best way to raise a child. Planned Parenthood, however, is anything but. Talk to one of the 92% of women who go on to regret their abortion though and you'll see the true impact it has on them.

Yeah, some of Sanger's views and affiliations are now considered less-than-savory (most are flat-out misquotes); fortunately, the organization she helped found was able to progress beyond the small-minded prejudices of those times (saying that Planned Parenthood should be held suspect due to Sanger's failings is akin to wadding up the Constitution because some of its draftsmen were slave owners, or that the Bible is no good for America because of its communist overtones). I've always seen Planned Parenthood as a disseminator of reproductive information, looking to educate those individuals open-minded enough to want a greater say in how their lives unfold. A wagon hitched to historical sovereignty can take someone as far as they need to go, and these guys are occasionally the Clydesdales pulling through the treacherous passes of dogmatic theism. Thus, PP's 2nd goal is the same as Sanger's #2 goal - birth control. But where is the health care? Planned Parenthood will secure passage of laws and policies, including state and federal constitutional amendments, that guarantee reproductive freedom for all. This sounds like a goal of a political lobbying group - not a so-called health organization. Of course, "reproductive freedom" is Planned Parenthood's code word for abortion. PP, just like Sanger, includes abortion as a method of birth control. Planned Parenthood will ensure worldwide implementation of a human rights and well-being agenda as currently expressed in the Cairo Agreement, with the U.S. fulfilling its financial commitment and implementing those principles in the U.S. The United Nations' International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), which was held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994, was widely considered a watershed event. The program's acknowledgment that legal abortion could be part of health care was a major coup for PP. It was the first time abortion was written positively into international documents. It is no wonder PP wants it moved forward with U.S. taxpayer money. Planned Parenthood will control a successful, diversified media company that creates and distributes the most popular, critically acclaimed health and sexuality programming. It has issued press releases supporting the use of embryonic stem cells (whose harvesting always kills a human being) and its web site shows a widespread use of terms (e.g. pre-embryo and fertilized egg) that are meant to dehumanize the human being created at fertilization and set the ground for all kinds of utilitarian experimentation. If PP is allowed to be the "authoritative voice," then bioethical standards will result in more deaths and total disregard for the sanctity of human life. Planned Parenthood will build the largest donor and citizen activist base of any social movement in this country. Note, PP did NOT say that it wanted to build the largest donor and citizen activist base of any health care organization in the country. Instead, it proudly labeled its efforts as that of a social movement. Planned Parenthood will be acknowledged as one of the 10 best places to work and volunteer. Planned Parenthood acknowledges it has employee morale problems as it states in the document: "we have often struggled to attract and sustain the workforce we need to serve our clients and other stakeholders." True health care organizations can offer their employees the knowledge that they are offering their patients services that will restore their health and better their lives. But, as this plan shows, PP is NOT a health care organization and cannot offer its employees any such comfort. Conclusion: Throughout this entire 25-year plan, this supposed health care organization does not mention the word "patient" even once. If you disregard everything else presented here, this one fact should tell you all you need to know about Planned Parenthood. (OM)We need to stop poverty by getting the worthless inner-city bums jobs, stopping the government handouts that have went on for 3 generations, and teaching some personal responsibility in these women who have 5 and 6 out of wedlock, illegitimate kids. Some wonderful work is performed by this organization that takes more sh#t than a sewage plant. . .I know of a few women who have been quietly served by this organization and speak of it's value. . .people don't like it because it (sometimes) represents their personal failures of educating their kids about sexual issues- sorry folks, carry your own cross but don't blame someone else who cares, has intelligence, and has the courage to do what some of you won't or can't. . .

These people are trying to PREVENT unwanted pregnancy and the spread of STDs.They provide a valuable service to society.I'd rather see our young people only having children they WANT and not dying of AIDS or contracting syphillus,thank you.
