Well, unless you only enjoy playing mainstream Western games - mostly first-person shooters, of course - and can handle the fact that your system could break down at any second, regardless of how often you play or how well you take care of it, the 360 is not for you. Oh, and make sure that you're willing to shell out $50+ a year (much more than that if you don't want to pay it all at once) to play anything online - something that both the Wii and PS3 give you for absolutely nothing - despite the server having been proven to be, at the very best, on par with the PSN, if not worse at times (truthfully, you get what you pay for when it comes to Nintendo's server, lol). Personally, I enjoy a much wider variety of games to choose from, and I was not at all happy about getting the dreaded RROD in just over six months of purchasing the console. Also, I don't have enough money to buy the system and games, AND the Live subscription (on top of the fee that I have to pay my Internet provider in ... Read more

After throwing an estimated $4 Billion into the development and marketing of Xbox 360 game console. Microsoft has finally taken the wraps of its new Xbox 360 game console-introducing the new Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect and judging from the features Microsoft has packed into the new Xbox 360 console, it’s increasingly clear to us that the company is playing for keeps and will continues to innovate. Microsoft announced a $400 bundle, which pairs the console with the Kinect motion controller and a game. Despite of its relativity high price tag, a $400 for the complete package, which still won’t include a broadband internet connection, and online subscriber fees, well that fees can reach as much as $8 a month, we expect the new Xbox 360 to be the ultimate toy of choice for gamers this coming holiday season. And hardcore gamers would love this stuff especially the Halo fanatics. The $400 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle includes the completely redesigned game console, Microsoft adds some features he... Read more

The Xbox 360 is a hit or miss console with a great selection of games but has many flaws. The games are great, with many options across various types of genres. The system itself isn't very good. Many people bought the 1st and 2nd generation 360s that came without HDMI or built-in Wifi. This means that they had to either buy a wireless adapter that cost $100 (on top of paying $50 to play online) or a new console if they also wanted HDMI. Microsoft is remedying this by releasing another version with built-in Wifi and HDMI (which should have been released at launch) so you will have to buy that if you want both. Add to that the fact that many consoles have malfunctioned, which is shown by the infamous Red Ring of Death (which I have gotten 4 times) and it becomes a big problem. Microsoft does not really honor the guarantee that well either. Instead of sending back new consoles that function well, they sent back a poorly refurbished one that died on me a few weeks to a few months ... Read more

The Xbox 360 has good graphics and awesome games. There just two problems: the Red Ring of Death and the online lagging(which you have to pay for). If it weren't for that then it get a 5/5.

I love the system, don't get me wrong. It has a lot of faults, though. First off, the system is constantly needing to be repaired. Which, is pretty gay. It'll take a few years (hopefully), though. So, don't worry, just use the warranty to its fullest. The shipping process for repairs is only easy if you have internet access (a printer as well), assuming you're reading this, you'll be fine. Just, don't buy it for a friend who hasn't got a computer, and just wants a game system. Who is like that? You'd be surprised, trust me. Other than those tiny issues, all an all, the system is good. Great exclusive games, and gets the job done.

My first console was the Sear's version of the Atari, this back in the 70s and I've been playing off and on since. My next system was an NES which I spent hundreds of hours playing but nothing comes close to the hours I've spent on the Xbox 360. True, there have been some quality control issues. I've gone through four different boxes myself, all replaced under warranty. But the games have been exceptional and more important has been how Live has revolutionized gaming. It costs a piddling amount each year but it is well worth it. I have many online friends I've never met but we've shared great times playing many games together. Besides the games I can play HD-DVDs. Yes, I know they lost the HD wars but they are dirt cheap now, as are the players. And I can stream video, pictures or music to my television and stereo system. I could, but don't, download music, movies and television shows right to my 360 from Live. Say what you will but MS has hit one out of the park this console generati... Read more

I got this for my Birthday in May and so far everything's great. I got the limited edition 360 that included Halo3 and Fable 2 with it so that was a nice surprise. The X-box has a respectable amount of good games that leave me constantly entertained and satisfied. If you're going to get a 360 be sure to get the 2 year warranty though, Microsoft is still having problems with the red ring of death and other problems so it may be pricey but it's worth it.

Just to put aside the "on-paper" advantages of the Xbox 360, such as the games library (which is indeed quite respectable, and I've found most 360 exclusive titles very entertaining), let me just share some of my personal experiences with Microsoft's premier console. I thought myself quite lucky to buy myself a cheap second hand 360, having been assured by the previous owner the console was immune to the "red-ring of death problem". Unfortunately, he neglected to mention the console had no hard drive or internal memory storage of any kind, and it didn't come with a controller recharger cable, or a rechargable battery, or an HDMI cable and that the wireless connection didn't work despite being an inch away from a PS3 that worked perfectly. Basically, I got a console that requires me to buy five more peripherals just to make it work as well as a PS3 does right out of the box (of course, the PS3 doesn't suffer the "red ring of death" problem, though apparently your 360 overheating woes c... A very good console. Great selection of games! The controller D-pad could be better. The Red Ring of Death is a bad flaw for the system. If your console falls to this plague, then you have to send it to Microsoft and they will send you a new one in 2-5weeks. Xbox live costs a monthly fee to play, but its worth it and is more reliable than the PS3 or wii.

The system is ALRIGHT at best. So that being said lets just say that along with the red fucking rings of death that the general freezing up is ANNOYING. The graphics are amazing, and a lot of the games make you want to squeel like a school girl in a candy shop. haha... I just can't get over the fact that when these pieces of shit FAIL that anyone would have to pay shit for repairs, warranty or not. If their junk fucking breaks - they should fix the shit. I am happy to note that they gave us a month free XBOX live and a 3 year warranty! WOOT Next time a major gaming console comes out I'm going back to Playstation.

Now don't get angry and let the cheese slide off your crackers folks!!! The Xbox 360 game console is a very good game console like any other. I purchased the Premum Pack in June of 2006. But about a year and a half later, I noticed some technical issues from the 360 such as jammed disk tray and scratching of game disk when the console is lifted vertically. The games are excellent if they please me. I just wish the 360 was more reliable liek the PS3. I'm not going to get into detail but the Xbox 360 is great when working but it brings my day down when a technical issue summons its way up, but not often.

Unsafe, unsecure and unreliable. Crashes after a couple hours of play, you get the Red Ring of Death if you play it too often, and you can't delete your personal/credit card info from the console after you've put it in for Xbox Live, etc (which makes me really uneasy). Microsoft is a horrible company. From the XBox, to Vista, to Internet Explorer, avoid their products at all costs.

The Xbox 360 is simply amazing with it's awesome superior quality graphics and fun games ! It promises hours of fun and is worth purchasing if only for the exciting video games that you can play with it. One of the greatest benefits of this console is the ability to play with other gamers online by using Xbox Live. Most Xbox 360 games are intended for adults but you can find many games for children to. The most reported problem with this console were technical difficulties that are now said to have been resolved by Microsoft. Overall, many gamers swear by this gaming machine and would purchase it again if they needed to. This is a great gift idea for those technical graphic fanatics or for just about anyone and the price is right.

The Xbox 360 is one of my favorite gaming systems. My only complaint is the red ring of death that I've been hit with multiple times. Fortunately, I've learned to fix the Xbox with just a few common household tools. If you need any help fixing the 3 red lights, check out: http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp?aId=71634

Good system, but too expensive overall. I got it when it first came out, got the red ring of death, and have spent at least $1000 on it (including the system, games, wifi adapter, controllers, live, etc.) The Wii is just as much fun but I've probably spent maybe $500 total, if that and gotten more games and no technical problems. The Xbox is good but unless money is no object for you and you NEED graphics and violence, the Wii wins. Oh, and fuck the PS3.

Original Comment, 1/12/08: It's an alright system, which relies a lot on the popularity of major FPS-style games (specifically Call of Duty and of course Halo). On New Year's Day, we got the infamous "red ring of death". Due to the extended warranty, we're shipping it back to Microsoft to fix it (we just got the box for return yesterday, which I have dubbed "the coffin"). Ironically, it happened just as my husband was explaining to our friend what the "Red Ring of Death" was and our friend had asked "What does it look like?". There you go. If you get the Red Ring of Death, don't toss it out; go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/warrantyupda te.htm for more info on the extended warranty (covers only Red Ring of Death, so if you do something stupid like drop it off a shelf, no, it's still not covered). UPDATE, 1/15/08:  When the UPS guy came in to pick up "the coffin", I had to ask if he's seen any other XBox returns on his route.  He gave a short la... Read more

Great game selection. Hardware is made easy for other game developers to write games for. Great online support. A few issues are: 1. Hardware is not nearly as reliable as it should be (33% failure rate!) 2. System noise is way too loud.. sorta ruins the gaming experience, 3. Some convenient components are not standard (i.e. wifi, support for bluetooth headsets, etc).

This is the best system to have this generation, tons of more games than the PS3 and if you don't exactly enjoy waving your arms around than your stuck on this as your home console. It's a great deal too, the only problem that people have been able to bring on it is the hardware malfunctions which M$ has already fixed in their new batch of 360s and the new extended warranty where they fix 360s for free. Personally my 360 has never broken on me and I used to leave it on all night for downloads and such. It does freeze a lot though especially on Xbox Live, it's kind of like a computer in certain ways that it freezes a ton and overheats a ton where it will just randomly shut down on you if you play it for more than 3 hours consecutively.

MS customer service is horrible.  After a second xbox 360 unit was delivered to us to replace one that was fried due to "3 flashing red lights", this one also developed the same problem.  To date, I have not been able successfully resolve this issue, and at this point, I have not heard back from MS after leaving both voicemail and email messages to get a date on when a replacement part would arrive. The graphics on the games themeselves are great, and I was surprised to find myself addicted to Need for Speed Most Wanted.  Before the 3 flashfign red light problem, which prompted MS to extend warranty protection on all consoles, the freezing of the games due to overheating was annoying at best.  To solve the overheating/freezing issue, an aftermarket fan was purchased, which MS is now saying voided the warranty for the 3 flashing red lights.

At $399 for the premium it is the best avaliable console. It has better graphics than the PS3, when games are compared side by side. It has a better selection of games out and coming out. Has the best online network and the controller fits naturally into your hands. The only thing it doesnt have is Blu Ray.

MICROSOFT XBOX360 WILL FRAUD YOU! WARRANTY VOID I bought an xbox360, after about 15 days the thing started to freeze on me, so I called tech support and they told me I had to send in my xbox360 to a repair center, and that I would get one sent out to me it only took 4 days I was happy about that, however after recieving the refirbished one about 16 days later it broke again this time a different issue. I sent it in to be repaired again and after 6 days they had sent it back telling me that I tampered with the inner seal and that my warranty is being voided. I never tampered with it, to me this is a case of Fraud, the inner seal was tampered with there repair center and sent out to me like that. my recommendation is don't buy an xbox360 is it not worth the hassle.

The Xbox 360 is a waste of money. If you play it for to long than it starts over heating. What system that's $400 does that!? Microsoft only spent about 4 years or so building the Xbox 360. Sony has been spending like 8 years or somthing making the Playstation 3. The reason why the Playstation 3 is going to be so much is becuase of how amazing it's going to be. After spending about a decade building this system dont you think it's going to kick ass!?

I just got the 360 a few days ago and it's amazing. The graphics on this thing the best I've ever seen on a home system and the games I've played so far are very cool. This system is also a great buy at $399.99 (HD Included) compared to the rumored price that the PS3 will go for this fall ($499.99-$599.99) not to mention you won't have to worry about something Sony is rumored to be thinking of doing: Making trading in your used games restricted. Rumor has it Sony is gonna have it to when you buy a game...you're just paying for the license and they actually own the disk making it illegal to sell it to places like EB Games etc. The jury's still out on the Wii so only time will tell with that thing. However, if you want a cool system with great graphics and games then the 360 is the way to go. You won't be disappointed with your purchase. P.S. Do yourselves a favor and get the one for $399.99 it will save you money in the long run.

Simply put, this is not a real next-generation system. In fact, it is laughable in so many ways. The only true improvement--and a truly debtable one at that--is the graphics. Sure, the HD-optimized look graphics wow the user on a TV capable of outputting at 1080p (the normal resolution of a TV is 480i), but on a regular TV they aren't much different. The controller is basically a carbon copy of the previous generation's controller, unlike Nintendo, who has updated and innovated their controller with each passing generation. And, when you think of how INCREDIBELY innovative the Nintendo Revolution controller is, it just pales in comparison. And, how about a little perspective here? The Nintendo Entertainment System lasted six to seven years. The Sega Genesis lasted an amazing nine years. The gap between the X-Box 1 and the X-Box 360? A mere 4 years. Ouch. But, the games, you say! What games? Perfect Dark Zero--a five-year-delayed first person shooter? Madden 2006 with its dry commen... Read more
