Fields does a reasonable job of portraying Sutton, who even in old age was a feisty, plain spoken, ascerbic woman with a fine sense of humor. Fields is somewhat more attractive that Ms. Sutton was, and the film does a fair bit of romanticizing of the events in question, but its a reasonably fair portrayal. Sutton herself, on seeing the film, said "We didn't have that much fun, but we did accomplish what we set out to do."
