I've heard the style of these with no heel strap referred to (by women)as "F.M. shoes"

Except they normally dispense with initials and use the pithy Anglo-Saxon verb for the first word, and a personal pronoun for the second.

And yes they make women look like whores, but thats not always a bad thing.

I'm not a big fan on high heels, but I prefer open-toed heels to closed toed ones. As far as my personal preference on heels goes though, it has more to do with the worsening of my ankles, rather than their style.
