05/08/2006 | Like Willie Nelson she has fallen victim to some questionable artistic choices (anyone see the Best Little Wh*rehouse in Texas?) but also like Willie, when she pushes the show business shtick aside and makes simple honest music, like on The Grass is Blue, there is no one who can touch her as a singer or a songwriter.

10/22/2004 | Dolly is my all time favorite country singer, by a country mile. Her down-to-earth persona is what elevates her in my eyes. Some parts of her may be artificial, but yet she seems more refreshingly real and lively than just about any artist with as many hit albums. Update: I have nothing against the false eyelashes, EO. Uniquely, she's found a way to earn my full respect in spite of the distraction.

08/13/2004 | My mother is not a big fan of Dolly--says she sounds like a little girl. I think she does sound like a little girl, but I also think she has made a lot of great music. The stuff she did with Porter Wagoner is brilliant. She is also a great songwriter.
