When I was much younger I had a beloved cousin who was stricken with brain cancer. He underwent numerous operations and for several years suffered with healing scars on his scalp. Those scars were quite unsightly and embarassing for him. His doctors advised him to only wear caps that had ventilation such as baseball caps since most people with cranial scars and hair loss are somewhat sensitive. People are also uncomfortable confronted with unsightly scars and often stare.

To see someone so petty and judgmental about what some other person wears to any restuarant is almost sickening. If it takes others dressing to your standards to make your day, I suggest you get a damn life or stay home. What someone else chooses to wear out in public is none of your damn business and there may be a serious reason for what you fail to understand.

My cousin died from brain cancer and he was also buried, per his request, IN HIS FAVORITE BASEBALL CAP!!!!! That is something for people like you to really criticize!!! He left behind a wife and a two year old son. BTW, the last dinner out on the town with his family, he wore his favorite baseball cap and his toddler son wore one just like his daddy. May you never know what it is like to lose a loved one to cancer.

What a sad small man you must be. Perhaps everyone who goes to a restaurant and dresses unappropriately, in your petty opinion, should explain the circumstances so you can enjoy your night out.

I've got to say that it really pisses me off to see some ignorant cocksucker wear one into a good restaurant. And pisses me off even more to see the restaurant let him stay, or not make him take it off.

Guys, save them for the ball fields. There are a lot of other more sexy headwear out there.

Ball caps definitely look best on cute young tomboys, but they're also a practical and inexpensive way for us old guys to cover up that bald spot and/or receding hairline.

I'm with alpepper on this one--baseball caps look best on chicks, especially with a ponytail sticking out. OK for guys, but trying too hard when worn backward. And nothing says redneck or uncouth more than some slob wearing one in a restaurant, or wearing any kind of headgear in a restaurant. Raised in a barn, weren't you?

Have one in every color! Well, almost every color. I think baseball caps became more of a fashion statement or at least personal statement, rather than sportswear.

I am not a big fan of these, but I am sure they have their times and places. I am always amused by those mopes who wear them backwards showing all the world the fashionable plastic snapper strap!

Fine for informal occasions.  It's those morons who wear theirs 24/7 (usually with baggy hip-hop gear) that give baseball caps a bad name.

I'd wear a cheesehead foam hat instead, but my Rusty Wallace hat works in a pinch. :)

I always wear a hat unless I'm at school, church, or any other special gathering that requires getting dressed up. I always wear my red Astros hat.

I usually wear my Detroit Lions hat with great shame and humiliation on gamedays, and wear it sparingly and with pride the rest of the week.

Always a good choice. My Bronco hat gets alot of use.

Nothing sez "DUDE" or "Punk" more than someone wearing a ballcap in a non-athletic setting (i.e., a restaurant). Ballcaps belong in the outfield and on board a Navy ship (where I wore one for 20 years), but not much anywhere else. Trucker hats are even worse. When I see a Dude wear a Von Dutch hat, I think: "Von Dork," you paid $70 for that "schmata." I do like seeing women in ballcaps, especially when their long ponytail sticks out through the back.

Everybody owns one (in my case a great many) and they look okay on anyone. Keeping Irishgit's caveat in mind, of course. They don't work for dinner out, church, etc.
