One time I went into one of my employees' desk to scare him. When he opened the drawer, I jumped out of it and yelled "Ooga Booga!"

It all depends on the atmosphere of the workplace. I have been in many workplaces where the atmosphere is more informal and people put glue and pens in other people's desks. So it is OK to look in other people's desks. Besides, it wasn't their desk in the first place. Those draws are just there to store things in, usually office equipment anyway. But I would not want to do this to my bosses desk!
