This is a very cozy restaurant dark but warm and inviting especially so on a cold winter's day. My Caesar salad and grilled salmon dinner was excellent as was the crème brulee I had for desert. And, the service was absolutely top notch. Actually, both the clientele and wait staff we experienced seemed anything but snobbish I guess attitude can have more to do with perception than some people seem to realize. Yes, Im one of those out-of-towners (who helps keep the NYC tourist trade a booming mega-biz) and yes Ive heard of this famous establishment all my life. So, partly due to its historical significance and also since its close to the theatre where we were headed later, we decided to have an early dinner here taking advantage of their pre-theatre menu. I was definitely not disappointed.

The atmosphere is terrific and the food is pretty well done and it's a great place to go for a drink.

Very expensive, very snooty and not very good restaurant that's coasting along on its past laurels. I first ate there in 1982 and thought it was overrated and pretty weak. Ate there two years ago and felt I've had better meals at TGIF. All these rich dinosaurs and semi-celebs hang out here, which might give you your jollies if you live in Des Moines.

Not even a shadow of what it used to be.

This is a NY institution and worth going to if only for that reason.Actually, this is a great place to go for a drink, especially in the winter when you can sit in front of the fire.
