My favorite here is the veal saltimbocca. Tender, milk-fed veal with proscuitto. The service is okay, not great.

if your're coming to new york and want to get real italian food - like italians eat in italy - go to gino's, near bloomingdales, or il menestrello, near rockefeller center. notice the diners are new yorkers and italians, not texans, and mangia bene! italian food has hints of flavors, and can't be smelled from a distance unless it's very, very old.

The portions are decent, but this is not real New York Italian food. Simply a crowded mediocre Times Square tourist spot.

Italian food for those who don't know better.

Decent Italian food but its really a tourist trap. Watch the bartenders, they seem to forget how to make change. Long waits and noisy. Not for a causal romantic evening with your best mate.

Best angel hair in garlic & olive oil that I have EVER had, including many restaurants in Little Italy and actual Italy!! If you like garlic, this is the dish for you. AMAZING.

You got to love any restaurant that you can smell from a couple of blocks away. Carmine's is the perfect restaurant for a big group. The food is served family style and is good (not great), the atmoshpere is festive, and the wine list extensive. Be sure to make a reservation, particularly for a big group, otherwise the wait will be very long. This is the case whether you're at the Times Square or Upper West Side location. If you're looking for another family style Italian restaurant with a calmer, mellower atmosphere, try Sambuca, also on the Upper West Side.

Overrated, loud, obnoxious tourist trap ... always a wait, for no apparent reason other than its location and size in Times Square, as they truly serve some of the most unimpressive Italian food in all of the Tri-state area.

A friend of mine once found a big industrial-size staple in her salad, but it was still a fun time.

The best fried calamari I ever had.

Great family style dining on the Upper West Side. Be prepared to stuff yourself. Food is well prepared and affordable.
