 | SilverFox (36) 09/14/2007 | That women were "granted" the right to vote surely isn't a liberal vs. conservative issue, is it (although some people see everything in those terms). It's extremely hard to realize that at one time only men, not women, had the "right" to vote. Amazing but true--women (and other classes of people) weren't considered citizens. Men can be such blind, self-involved a-holes about women (I know, because sometimes I'm guilty), and history proves the point.

 | Djahuti (57) 12/03/2005 | Say what you want about "Liberals",but without people who question the Status Quo there would be no Voting for Women,Blacks or even a United States at all since the "Conservative" view at the time of the American Revolution was loyalty to the British Crown.

" Just a minor point of interest: prior to granting women the right to vote, typical turnout of eligible voters (in the 19th and early 20th centuries) averaged in the 75-85% range. Since women have been granted this right, turnout is seldom in the 60% range.
What a different country it could be.
