I remember when the Conan show went live, never would have expected him to make it, too quirky- but he found a niche, and was able to make the leap from writer to performer. He seems to have a sense for the dissonance which makes off-timing feel like timing. Very sharp.

He is smart in and his show remains funny. You can't do that if you are a dope.

I've been watching Conan on and off since he first aired and have been a fan. I only see a comic genius and behind it a very intelligent person. That's my 2 cents.

Yeah, I'll agree with the smart clown idea. He was certainly smart enough to let Triumph the Insult Comic Dog run amok and that's always a hoot...

Loves to act the clown, but he's no dummy. Both his parents were Harvard profs., and Conan wrote several of the best Simpsons episodes in their early days. His comedy is hit-or-miss (mostly the later, since his side-kick Andy Rickter left).

He is sometimes funny but too far out, I won't watch when he takes over for Jay Leno, he is just too strange for that time slot, better to keep him where he is.
