A brilliant thinker and all-around entertaining character who missed his calling as Mussolini's crown jurist. Scalia really should have been an independent political commentator on TV, where I would have enjoyed him a lot more as a harmless nut, secure in the knowledge that he didn't have the power to sanction things like tying prisoners to the back of a pickup truck, the constitutionality of which he could defend without worrying me in the slightest. Alas.

Can't rate this guy high because he is so arrogant he wants his opinion to be accepted regardless--ie refusing to recuse himself from cases he has vested interests in. And his forcing his religion to overshadow his opinions is IMO offensive!

Somehow, the gray matter credentials of Supreme Court justices have never been something I have questioned. Do I disagree with some of their conclusions and decisions involving the Bill of Rights? Sure. And I think Bill Clinton was genuinely wrong about his vision for America ... but I never thought he was lacking intelligence ... and the same can be said of Scalia.

Brilliant but twisted.
