well I am still gettin over the loss but we'll be back next year. I got to see the game against the Falcons and really though we were gonna do it this year. TO is back as well as the whole team except maybe Mitchell and Trotter that we need to keep. I still love my birds. We'll be back next year no doubt.

The Eagles can pull off a win against New England tonight. Of course, it's difficult to predict, especially when you have two very good teams going at each other, and many are predicting imminent victory for the Patriots, but there are a few ways that I can foresee a win for Philadelphia. They have a very strong defense; their strong linebacker and defensive end might make the game for them, despite the Patriots strong offense. The Eagles have to depend on the possibility that the Patriots defense will break down by the 2nd Half of the game like it did against the Panthers in last years Super Bowl. In that situation, the Patriots pulled away with a win only because the offense picked up the slack. Of course, New England has Corey Dillon at linebacker, who will be a force to be reckoned with, the Eagles have to stop his ground game. However having Jeremiah Trotter at LB is also a big positive for the Eagles. Since they acquired him mid-season, the team has been very tough to run against. If this occurs, they're still going to have to deal with QB Tom Brady, who's very precise and good under pressure. But of course, he could also make some bad decisions; he did it against Miami and Pittsburgh earlier this year. The Eagles defense has to keep the pressure on Brady in order to snatch victory from the Patriots, and they probably will. All of this means that the Eagles have the means to beat New England--now it's just a matter of execution. And of course, they also have McNabb who has been critical for this team. For the Eagles, defense is key. One thing is for certain, this is going to be a good game where the teams are very well matched. My money's on the Eagles.

Eagles play defense and can both guard the Patriots average WR's and pressure Brady with a pass rush. McNabb is the kind of QB who can give the Patriots trouble because he can make plays and can beat you by himself. Westbrook is a tough guy to match up with and T.O. is the X Factor.

I really want them to win, but they won't.

**Update** OK, I'm not saying it's a done deal, I'm not saying that Reid is a better coach than Belichek, but I am saying that a seven point spread in this game is WAY too big. Here's why I think that the Eagles have a legit shot to win this game: 1) Andy Reid. He's 9-0 with 2 weeks to prepare, and that's not a coincidence. He will have the team ready to roll. 2) Eagles Defense. They have been mislabeled a bend but not break defense for their performance early in the year. This is just not the case any more, they're not even bending. They are dominating - see their strangulation of the Vikes' and Falcons' high powered offenses if you don't believe me. 3) Playmakers. In an evenly matched game with great teams, great coaches, neutral field, it will come down to who can make plays. The Eagles have three of the best playmakers in the game - Mcnabb, Westbrook, and T.O. One of those guys might just win the game. **Original Comment** 9/21/04 - If Brian Westbrook stays healthy, they will be in the superbowl. The biggest question mark I had going in on the birds was their young corners - sheldon brown and lito shepherd. And seeing them battle randy moss on Monday has reassured me. They're legit - tough, athletic, and scrappy. TO is TO, the Eagles have shown they can get to any quarterback, and Mcnabb is playing like an MVP. For once, an Eagles team that wins AND is fun to watch. But like I said, it comes down to Westbrook staying healthy.

Just a freaking machine. The addition of T.O. makes McNabb that much more proficient and the O that much more scary.....Add in the aggressive D and the Giants and Skins on the schedule twice each and you have the makings of a 14 win season. Andy Reid makes it to his first Super Bowl as a HC.

Best team in the NFC. Got much better over the off season with the addition of T.O. but won't beat the Jets in the Superbowl.
Mad Hatter 09/22/2004
They looked good last year to go to the Super Bowl and they look better this year. Defenit contender.
numbah16tdhaha 09/22/2004
Solid team with a good D and some weapons on offense. A legit contender.

Mag (as is almost always the case) is right. This is a hard-hitting defense that is fun to watch and no fun to play against. Daunte being turned away at the goal line will be remembered a long time. And Donovan's passing is as sharp as ever, even if he has lost a step in his scrambling, he still has the scrambler's instinct. But, can they beat New England in the Super Bowl?

Eagles are probably worse this year than they were last year, and even last year they were lucky to get as far as they did

Adding T.O. and the Freak should help the Eagles, and I hate to say that. They came close last year, and might get over the hump this year.
