When Oppenheimer began to express misgivings about nuclear weapons he helped create, sleazoid Teller used Oppenheimer's politics to declare him a "security risk" and basically move himself up his career ladder. That Oppenheimer could be treated this way was a travesty, as there was no indication he had any intentions of committing treason. For right wing opportunists, it was a good time.
