You gotta take the sweater, no matter what. Fortunatly my grandma only did blankets and they were pretty good.

Aww, but think how much love went into that sweater.

maybe a little kid would have a hard time appreciating something that was handmade by grandma. but in later years these are the gifts that really mean something. especially if they are no longer around. I still have needlestiching pictures my grandfather made, other handmade trinkets made my aunts, grandmas, and grandpas.they bring back memories.

First of all, when either of my grandmothers made something it certainly wasn't crappy. Even if it had been, I would treasure it just because she made it for me. It isn't the gift it's the fact that the person thought enough of you to give it - yeah, I know, trite - but true. And I can tell you that I would rather have them both back than have the most expensive diamond and gold studded whatever on earth.

Without my grandma, I wouldn't have any sweaters. In fact, when I think about it, I wouldn't even have a mom. And....if I had no mom, my grandma would have wasted alot of her time knitting those sweaters.

This has happened to me several times with my aunt who is an excellent seamstress by the way. Since she lives on a fixed income, this is the only thing she can do for us during Christmas.
