Maybe the little bugger will learn not to ask for a Maserati, a grand an hour hooker, and a kilo of blow.

I guess junior needs to learn he cannot get everything he wants. we save up a Christmas fund all year and what we have saved is what we spend. I agree that junior has to learn that he cant have it all. what a spoiled brat he/she would become if a parent did. I know of a few kids who get everything they want and no matter what you do for them is never enough. We try to do the best we can and not drain our savings account. personally I do not think you are doing a child a favor getting them everything.

Stuff I wanted as a kid but never got and why... Sparkle Paints (my mother didn't want furniture trimmed in multi-colored glitter) A Poney (we lived in the city) A Chemistry Set (obvious reasons) There were no doubt other things but these three stand out. The lesson I learned is that, if you get everything you want, you begin to think that's the way life is and it sets you up for disappointment. Not getting everything can be a good thing. It certainly won't kill you.

I asked my 5 year old Godson what he wanted for Christmas this year, and he said "a humpback whale." Don't think I can swing that one.

Ever heard of credit cards so you can spoil the little brats? Just remember. Every Christmas you have to buy something bigger and better than last year.

When i was a kid it was a much different time, my parents did alright but were definately not rich. But things were less expensive then, we were happy getting a board game or two, some new clothes, and on those special Christmas's a new bike. It is a little disheartening for a parent today who does not have a lot of money, seeing the never ending items their child might want, Video games, Ipods, camcorders etc. , and being unable to give them.

When I was 5 yrs old, I presented to my father a thoughtfully arranged list of about 20 gifts. Being an Irishman (straight out of Belfast), he looked at it and went into 30 second cursing tirade. Upon trying to calm him down, I said "But, Daddy, you only have to get me one of those....Santa will bring the rest". I believe he made up a few of his own profanities during the second violent denunciation.

This happened to my parents on a few occasions. There were toys I wanted that were beyond what my parents could afford. Being a kid, it's hard to understand something like this but now as an adult, it's very understandable since parents aren't made of money. When my dad bought me a really nice (used) car a couple of months ago, I know darn well that I'm not going to be getting much from him for Christmas...heh, heh. By the way, the car is a 1996 Saturn and it was only $2,000! What a deal ;) And it's like new, too ;)
