
Beginning at 3 in the morning, ships arrive from all areas, including Africa and the Americas, carrying supplies to satisfy the city's (and the country's) insatiable seafood appetite. Between 5am and 7am, auctions take place, and fish is thereafter transferred mostly to local vendors' fish stands. Aside from these stands, there are plenty of sushi restaurants and other shops related to the fish trade. The market is among the largest in the world.
