He made the tough decision that several before him could not make: he made a stand and stuck his ground for what was right and to fight, despite the steep price paid, to keep this nation together. Lincoln was not considered a hero by many during his lifetime because he cost so many men their lives. It was a price many felt was not worth the results. Obviously, over time history has proven that these kinds of tough decisions must be made in order to preserve the freedom, liberty, and safety that we all enjoy today. Considering the threat of terrorism that exists in our world today, you wonder if history will look favorably on the tough decisions being made currently.

"Stand with him while he is right and PART with him when he goes wrong." ~~~Abraham Lincoln, "Speech at Peoria, Illinois" (October 16, 1854) "In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book." Reply to Loyal Colored People of Baltimore upon Presentation of a Bible" (September 7, 1864)
