An opportunistic hood, who led his country to independence, flirted with the right while courting the left, and managed to screw his country up thoroughly.

He is another of the generation who led his country to independence and then sank into incompetence and worthlessness. He tried to sell his country out to the Communists but was overthrown by the military in 1965 to the vast relief of everyone. "The Year of Living Dangerously" flick is a good study on the Sukarno years. He was a darling of the leftos so he shall probably get some raves on RIA!
