When we used to live on one side of East San Diego County, I could see it happening because Dad had created unique Christmas light decorations out of wood.

we have a small display of lights on our porch. so we have not had any troubles. I know of neighbors who have. one family used to go all out and display tons of ornaments in their yard, with nativity scene, frostys santas. etc. one year some thieves stole some of the Christmas display. they were so upset they took down everything. I felt bad for them they really went all out. and that ruined it for them. another neighbor had some yard holiday ornaments stolen and some ruined. why jerks have to do this is beyond me. we keep it simple because why spend all that money and be a victim?
