This woman makes my blood boil and my skin crawl. She is the ultimate cheap shot artist who does anything she can to take shots at anyone that doesn't support the Republican/conserative agenda. She made me angriest when she blasted "The Jersey Girls" in her column (and the only reason she did that was they endorsed John Kerry) by writiThese self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them. ... I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much ... the Democrat ratpack gals endorsed John Kerry for president ... cutting campaign commercials... how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy." What an awful person.

What's wrong with Huckabee Ann?

You would go with Clinton over McCain? What about a write in vote for your self?

Personally, I've always found it amusing when Republicans--or at least a good portion of their party--praised AC for her wit and impartiality, as if wit and impartiality relied entirely on 5th grade name-calling aka "raghead" and "faggot" or the ability to render sense into nonsense. But can we blame Ann entirely? Think about it. Her behavior has long been sanctioned by the Grand Ol' Potty (yeah, we Dems can sling' em too) even if they're now fleeing her like rats fleeing a sinking ship--crying "Ann's no more a part of the Republican party than the Democratic party." My ass. I've said it before and I'll say it again. we know the party line. Anyone, repeat, ANYONE who disagrees with No child left behind is a "terrorist," pro-choicers, hell, the frigging terrier that bites the GOP on the toe are all "terrorists." And, as we've seen here amply, anytime a liberal defends affirmative action, the alarm goes up--"they hate whites!" Anytime someone criticizes abuses of religion, "they're godless!" (oops, that was Ann). You see, folks, it all boils down to double standards for the GOP--just like everything else they've done in the last decade (e.g., philandering Henry Hyde passing judgment on Clinton!). That's how the game is played. Liberals are "shrill," conservatives are "fair and balanced"; liberals make silly and childish remarks (e.g., Al Franken commenting on Rush Limbuagh's weight), Ann is just "so funny." I could go on but you get the point. Ultimately, given this tendency for knee-jerk conservatism, the GOP really oughta stand by their woman. She's helped make them what they are.

After reading her excellent book "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)," I find that Ann Coulter is an intelligent conservative woman with many enlightening truths. It's truly astounding, to take one example, that liberals cry bloody murder when we detain terrorists at Club Gitmo, but when we can send someone (Elian Gonzalez) back to the Communist "paradise" Cuba, we go in with sub-machine guns! Comprared to the outright vitriol of the left's most touted "pundits," she is fairly tame and seems much smarter to boot. I defintely look forward to reading her other books, such as "Treason."

Ann Coulter makes a mistake that is common of many political commentators today: she fails to make a distinction between the person making an argument and the actual argument being made. True, her abrasive points help her achieve her ends, selling books, but is it really correct to be intellectually dishonest, not to mention so grossly insensitive to other people, such as the 9/11 widows? Talk about sticking a knife into a raw wound. Bottom line, they may call it satire, but let's call it for what it really is; Coulter here is being a total b***h.

Certainly, everyone has a right to their opinion, including Coulter. For her part, she argues that the 9/11 widows, whom have been fairly critical of the President's handling of the war on terrorism, should directly confront their detractors like Ann Coulter, who believe that the President is doing the best he can given the circumstances.

But the 9/11 widows certainly have every right to express their opinion as well. There's certainly no boundary stopping them from doing so. It's the same old argument that's used against Hollywood celebrities who speak out on various causes. So what if they have the soapbox to speak out? Yes, they may be able to reach more people, but that alone is not cause to call into question the argument being made. In many respects, people like Coulter try to use a form of classism to make such points, hence the use of such terms like "Hollywood elite". The implication is that they have an advantage that you don't when expressing their opinions, and that's a wider audience. But the audience you're reaching, or the amount of people you're reaching is irrelevant, especially in regards to the argument being made. A true conservative would believe in the free market of ideas. If an opinion or idea is a bad one, eventually, it will go to the wayside. Of course, not everyone can be heard, but there are many opinions out there that can't be heard either. What's being attacked here is the influence of the messenger.

Coulter contends that the 9/11 widows used their position in the public eye to express opposition towards the President, and that they get some sort of sick kick out of their husbands death for that. Now certainly, such logic would lead one to call into question not only Coulter's ethics, but also her sanity. Sure, lets have an honest debate about the issues, but lets stay away from personally slandering other people for absolutely no other reason.

But what Coulter's arguments really come down is the notion that certain opinions should be censored in favor of others. Slandering the person, rather than arguing the point is the easiest way, in Coulter's mind, to defeat her opponents. But that only makes her arguments even weaker. And of course, there's a double standard in the application of her logic. Why else does she not seek to mute the opinions of other people in the public eye who have essentially her opinions? Certainly there are a lot of members of the "Hollywood elite" and other influential types who are conservative. Should their opinions be muted as well?

If you're ever reading an older piece of literature (say 18th or 19th century)and you run across the unflattering terms "harpie" or "fishwife" and you wonder what they mean.. look no further. Ann Coulter is the archetype of both.

She apparently feels there are no bounds, no depths too low, no observation too crass, when she's looking to fire a salvo of cheap shots at someone. She's an embarrassment to journalists and writers everywhere.

I can't really add much to what's already been said about this contemptible creature. I've seen puerile scribblings and messages such as 'for a good time call 555-6969' on gas station bathrooms located in the very heart of frightening villages in the Appalachians that had more class than this person.

I can't believe anyone would actually listen to a person who says that 9-11 widows enjoy their husbands' deaths because they choose to use their 1st amendment rights. Does anyone here really believe that this woman's arguments are coherent? She claims that Democrats support murder and adultery, and on Fox News she accused Democrats of being racists because some Democratic Senators thought that Condoleezzas statements about the Iraq War perhaps show her to be a tad less than truthful. Even Bill O'Reilly disagrees with her stance on the Iraq War (Oh, and isnt it going so well!). She has repeated used vicious hate-speech against Muslims, calling them "ragheads", "camel jockeys", "jihad monkeys", and "tent merchants". She has even said: "The 'offense to Islam' ruse is merely an excuse for Muslims to revert to their default mode: rioting and setting things on fire". She has called women "not as bright as men". She said that "my only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building." And for my finale, I close with my favorite Ann Coulter quote:

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

I am trying to point to an incontrovertible pattern of truly vile statements from this woman. I urge you to go to wikipedia and read about her. Go to google video and see her on television. If you are not disgusted, my hat goes off to you.
I try to respect right-wing commentators and leaders. People like Bill Bennet and Bill Kristol are people I respect; and while I may disagree with them they are willing to make rational arguments to buttress their points. However, I cannot respect someone who makes vile, despicable, disgusting, horrible, truly un-American comments which have no basis except in racism and lunacy. I cannot believe any rational person takes her seriously. If the far-right wing really thinks they're going to turn Bush's reputation around by embracing those kinds of ideas, I wish them the best of luck--they're going to need it.

I can't believe how hateful this woman is. Her hatred of liberal democrats is chilling. Someone needs to remind her that liberals are losing their lives everyday in Iraq fighting for "freedom". Also some of the people killed on 9/11 happened to be liberals as well. Her comments regarding the 9/11 widows was really indicative of how sick Ms. Coulter is. I think the root of her problem is a gender reassignment operation that didn't go too well.

I've written about her elsewhere, and I don't like to devote too much of my attention to someone who is, as Djahuti suggests, a miserable excuse for a human being; a vile and ugly (physically and spiritually) stick-insect of a woman. Two possibilities present themselves when it comes to contemplation of this anorexic harridan. One: She either believes what she writes and says, and is a certifiable lunatic who belongs in Bellevue...or...Two: She's an amoral opportunist who has found herself a lucrative niche and is making a fortune adopting "outrageous" positions on the issues (or, in many cases, non-issues). Beyond the repulsion factor, there's really not all that much about her that's fascinating (a co-worker of mine...a gay Republican by the way...loves her, probably because she physically resembles a low-rent transvestite). What is disturbing, and depressing, is that so many people in this country evidently embrace her and her vicious lies and that she's given so much media attention (I thought the media was left-wing? Time Magazine, which put her on the cover of their magazine, must not have gotten the memo...or cable TV, which features her relentlessly).

People have said that "the left" (as though everone on the left is one unit of people who think alike.) is narrow-minded. You don't think that Ann Coulter is narrow-minded? She doesn't even know me and she's already made her decision about my intelligence, my relationship with God, my patriotism, and my political opinions. If that's not narrow-minded, I don't know what is. Others have said that "the truth hurts". Well, there may be some truth to what Ann Coulter says. But the more extreme people who need to hear the truth won't hear it. They won't hear it because Ann comes across as smug, hateful, and condescending. Maybe she doesn't really mean some of what she says. But when someone calls you a traitor and insults you for disagreeing with them, it tends to make that person not want to listen to what you say. Liberals and conservatives see the world differently. Their differences may never be fully sorted out, but this stuff doesn't help. It's red meat to the kind of angry people who simply want to insult the political opposition rather than meet them in the middle, and it's insulting and frustrating to those on the other side of the political spectrum. The same is true of Michael Moore, the Ann Coulter of the left. That's why most liberals - at least those who are interested in more than extreme positions about Bush and his connection to 9/11 - don't put any stock in him. Another reviewer noted that Ann Coulter is really cashing in on the "bash liberals" market that is so big today. That's true. As long as people are angry, they will listen to this kind of ranting. Both liberals and conservatives can learn something from each other. To realize that, we first have to get beyond this divisive partisanship. On BOTH the liberal and conservative side.

Ann Coulter plays the Howard Stern of political writing and commentating, but with an added hypocrisy and deep contempt for her fellow Connecticut residents because of their liberal beliefs. Desperately trying to sell books, she comes up with the most deathly serious titles she can imagine, like "Slander" and "Treason." Her writing appeals to that teenager sense of humor by trying to debase every person she mentions with vulgarities. The appearance of her name here, with much more reputable writers, is incongruous at best.

Ann is one of the few syndicated writers I try never to miss. Her use of sarcasm and satire are often "laugh-out-loud" funny and I always find myself forwarding her most recent missive to at least half a dozen people, none of whom are liberals with whom I want to remain on speaking terms. She's not out to convince others of her viewpoint, she is all about making fun of democrats and their agenda through a biting wit and hilarious exaggerations of their statements and viewpoints. I believe she graduated from Cornell (a fact they're not likely to trumpet, in spite of her enormous popularity, or is it notoriety?). Oddly, there isn't really an equivalent to Ann on the left. They are just all whiny and angry over there, nothing's funny. NOthing but another anti-Bush harangue. Remember Art Buchwald? He was funny. Liberals need to laugh more. Were republicans this dour when they were compleltely out of government?
