I find him a brilliant writer. I think his essays are too long to expect large numbers of readers to pore through, but then I read them through and wonder what he could have possibly omitted. He, like myself, used to be a radical lefty, and I accord him greater credibility because of it. His mind is so strong and his use of the language so powerful, I understand why people of a liberal persasion find him objectionable. It's funny the hatred he and Ann Coulter engender from some of the more militant left wing-nuts. I wouldn't have thought that a necessary skill for a pundit to develop would have been to duck quidkly. Aren't there laws against such attacks? Ah well, Islam is a religion of peace for most of its participants.

I like the guy. Radical Son is a good read, putting aside some of the hyperbole. His big gripe with Harry Shearer (sp?) is that the latter called him a bad writer. Clash of egos.

Horowitz is completely out of his mind. He has lived and contributed heavily at both of the furthest reaches of the political spectrum. Someone that simply hits one end in a lifetime is usually a kook, but swinging clear to the other side?! Judging from what happened to him at Ramparts Magazine I think its likely he developed some racist ideas.
