New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Hornets relocated due to Hurricane Katrina 5

Since Katrina was probably the biggest story in America since the start of the Iraq War, this is significant as well. I'm trying to think of a precedent where a sport franchise has been forced to move due to a natural disaster and none come off the top of my head. I do recall the Pittsburgh Steelers leaving Pittsburgh during World War II and joining up with the equally depleted Philadelphia Eagles (They became known as the "Steagles"). The owner of the Saints has been considering moving out of New Orleans unless they got a new stadium. Though the Saints were not expected to contend, the turmoil utterly destroyed their season. The NFL's decision to give them a "home game" in New York was thouroughly malevolent and self-serving to the Giants. For all good intent, every game the Saints played was a road game. The Hornets move to New Orleans was a debacle to start with. Basketball failed there years ago with the New Orleans Jazz [Sidetrack: I always consider the Utah Jazz the most absurd thing this side of 2 CFL teams nicknamed "Roughriders." I just can't imagine 2 Mormons in having the following conversation: "Say Sterling, after Church, let's head to a club and listen to some of that swell Utah Jazz." "Great idea, Tobias."] Anyway, the Hornets are gone forever. Oklahoma City is supporting the team in droves (they played to empty crowds in New Orleans). The Saints will purportedly play a few games in the Superdome in '06. But who will attend? And playing in a site now indelibly synonymous with death and tragedy, would be tantamount to having a Ramadan celebration on Ground Zero in NYC.
