Sardi's 5

Typical Manhattan dining prices, but amazing quality food. My filet mignon melted in my mouth and the creme brulee was absolutely to die for. Be careful what you order to drink ($3.50 for an iced tea - not Long Island).

Was overrated in its prime, now nothing more than a highpriced shill for out-of-town hicks and the local unsophisticated and uninformed. Great location, but as far as the food goes, you'd be better off at the ballpark. Noisy, frenetic atmosphere that tries to convey excitement and energy, but comes across like flopsweat every time. I rather doubt anyone from New York actually eats there, but I guess it wows the hayseeds in from Des Moines.

the above reviews must have been written by people recently rescued from being marooned in the south seas. sardi's is, and has been for a long time a true tourist trap. if you really crave new joisy eyetalian food, need the company of faded caricatures of has-beens and like paying beverly hiils prices, sardi's is the place for you. otherwise when stranded in the theater district with the wannabees who just came from the bridges and tunnels, a joe allen cheeseburger is the new yorker's saving delight.

Love Sardi's! Although I haven't been there in years, it was always exciting and wonderful. Located right next to the St. James Theatre, it is filled with caricatures of famous celebrities, many "real" celebrities dine there, and the food is excellent.

Even though the food is perfectly fine, Sardi's is much more than just a restaurant. It's as much a part of "Broadway" as Shubert Alley or the Palace.

There are few restaurants in the world that are an institution like Sardi's - every bit as much a part of the Broadway scene as the theaters that surround it. The food is perfectly okay, and there are always "familiar faces."

Very good food, right across the street from the Majestic Theatre (current Broadway home of "Phantom of the Opera". Don't miss the English phone boxes upstairs or the hundreds of caricatures of famous people who have dined there.
