the absolute best steak ever! The service is amazing and will get you anything you ask for in about 10 seconds. The sauce is so good and you should buy some to use when you BBQ, definetely amazing. Couldnt be better unless it was in heaven!®

i just don't get it. the emperor's new clothes. let's say we agree it's the best steak anwhere (which it very well may not be), i've been treated better in mess halls. the food, except for the steak, is better in mess halls. reservations, which are almost impossible to get, mean almost nothing as diners are forced to stand in crowds for long times, while being totally ignored. the no credit card policy is an insult, especially considering the neighborhood. the prices are sky high, the gratitude non-existent. the best steak in the world is not enough in a city where the second, third, fourth.. are included in wonderful dining situations and your patronage is not mocked. i guess what i left out in my first review, is that every great restaurant in new york - and there are many - serves wonderful steak, with all the other niceties. try the brasserie or four seasons.

I found the steak to be just OK, the tomato and onion appetizer appallingly bad, the hash browns revolting and the service rude. That steak sauce tastes like what I imagine varnish to be like. It was expensive for a Brooklyn location. The decor was oldfashioned and appealing, but you're not there to eat the rough wood tables. There are about a half dozen steakhouses in NYC that are better than this.

Very good steakhouse, but hardly worth the trip to this part of Brooklyn when there are a number of NYC steak joints that are just as good if not better.

This is the best steak anywhere, there is no debate. I've eaten beef in Nebraska that didn't come close to the flavor and tenderness of the porterhouse at Lugers. Bring cash, and don't eat all day; Just be ready to have all other steaks pale in comparison for the rest of your life. Smith and Wollensky is not worth your money, you will get a cold steak and service that treats you as if they don't need your business.

The legend lives on. What else is there to say but this is the best steakhouse in North America.

If you are looking for some great steak, this is the place to go. Be prepared that there aren't many frills. Everything comes a la carte so you have to order all of the sides separately (creamed spinach and potatoes are particularly good). You will definitely spend some cash there, but make sure you bring cash or a check because they don't take credit cards. These inconveniences are well worth dealing with, however, to enjoy some of the tastiest steak you will ever try. There are two locations: the more well known one in Brooklyn and one in Great Neck on Long Island. I've been to both and there is no difference in quality.

Manhattanites insist that Smith & Wollensky is the best NY steakhouse, but those in the know will tell you that Peter Luger's is a notch above. Excellent aged beef to satisfy even the most discriminating meat lover. Be prepared to spend some ducats 'cause it ain't cheap, but it's worth every penny. Also, buy some Peter Luger steaksauce to take home, you will not be sorry!
