I was losing sleep over this issue ("Dear God, how can they do this to Santa Claus? How can we ignore him?"), until I was reminded by a more sober personality of how many people have died in Iraq, and how many billions we've spent (some would say squandered) there already, and I was sort of able to get my priorities more in order. With a new sense of resolve, I contemplated the problems of poverty, disease, illiteracy, the environment and pollution, world hunger, corporate welfare, the exploitation (and sexploitation) of workers in 3rd world countries (and much of the U.S.), Governmental corruption and disease, etc. etc...and the war on Christmas began to lose much of its erstwhile significance. Now if I could just get over the horrors inherent in contemplating gay marriage, the liberal media, or Bill Clinton's b'job!

This is probably the most significant social event of the year! The war on Christians shall lead to a tremendous backlash. It is building already!

Alright, children, settle down. You guys over there, when someone says "Merry Christmas", it's a sign of good will, quit crying. And you guys over there, if someone says "Happy Holidays", are you really honestly all that offended that you're going to !@#$% about it? Or is it that you've got nothing better to do? If the words chosen in a polite and well-meaning greeting is something that makes you lose sleep at night, I'd highly suggest finding a new hobby.

I as far as I know, it's still being celebrated, and still on the calender.

Christmas hasn't changed in my household, or anywhere else I see. At least in this "war", no one died due to political posturing.

. . .was a running joke at my Xmas office party. . .the main punchline being- "If there is a (giggle) war on Xmas, they sure lost!" More inventing-conflict-to-pretend-they're-out-to-destroy-my-Church-mania. . .

This has been going on for years, and doesn't relate specifically to 2005.

It's close to being the "least significant" event, but it isn't worth spending that much thought on. Let people express themselves in the way they deem appropriate under the circumstances.
