He's really the only member of the Eagles who could reliably produce hit records post break-up, but he was just riding a wave.  His solo career had all the signs of a vehicle on cruise control.

I ever there was a choice that would be spur-of-the-moment, this would be it. I always disliked the endlessly played and over-atmospheric (to the point of being soppy) "Boys Of Summer" and "The End Of The Innocence", but "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" really sounded quite good and still does not sound bad. However, taken as a whole, Henley's solo career was very short and "Boys Of Summer" is now the definitive 80s period piece and a song I would have put on a "50 Worst Songs" list to stir up controversy.
