No, daedalus, somebody else DOES remember this 1981 techno-thriller, but not with much fondness. I'll give it this much credit: it was a few decades ahead of itself, story-wise, with models clandestinely having their images digitized by corporations for unlimited future use. It takes a turn for the melodramatic after the models begin dying in strange ways. Dr. Larry Roberts (played by Albert Finney) is the plastic surgeon unwittingly doing the precision work on models at the request of James Coburn's tech facility; Finney starts connecting the dots, and foils the plot before the respective industries form an unholier union. The effects are darkly compelling, with subliminal advertising and focus-group product placement ripe for the jabbing by director Michael Crichton. Personally, I thought it was all just a marvelous way of getting Susan Dey to wiggle out of her laundry for some poorly-lit nude scenes. A phone-in paycheck from a cast that should've taken more initiative after reviewing the dailies. Only worth buying as a five-dollar gift you can borrow from whoever you've awkwardly given it to.

Am I the only person who remembers this bizarre movie? One of Crichton's earlier directing jobs and it shows. Its centered on the world of advertising and that alone is enough to make it annoying, but the gun that hypnotizes its victims is pretty cool.
