Closed now, and for good reason. The old Russian Tea Room had some class and the food was decent. The new Russian Tea Room was all noisy glitz and ostentatious decor, yet the cuisine was like dogfood. Restaurants like that don't make the cut in NYC, and you have to wonder what the management was thinking when they made such a radical change.

This is not a place to go before the theatre.This is an event to be savored by itself.While the food is perfectly fine, the big deal is about the decorating.It is wonderfully over the top and visually great fun.
