THE greatest guitarist of all time, up there with Hendrix. My Dad took me to see Gary at the Birmingham Odeon in 84, it was my first gig and to date I've not heard another guitarist that comes close in terms of sheer raw power, speed and emotion. Technically he cant be faulted and he's also a master of feel and tone. Cant say Im a fan of the music he plays but he pretty much blows away his competition.

Gary Moore is not only an excellent blues guitarist, but he was also an eminent member of the most influential Irish rock band that ever existed, and I don't meant U2, of course I'm talking about Thin LIzzy. There is no way that Eddie van Halen is a better guitarist than Gary Moore. Just not possible. Gary Moore makes his guitar sing, and it can enchant anyone. Gary Moore IS the best guitarist in the world, and this is all there is too it!!!!

Gary Moore was the only highlight of Thin Lizzy, and he was only a part-time member. His metal solo work was good. Now he is playing the blues.

This guy has had a very solid career though somewhat unknown. His 80's stuff was unbelievable.

Still got the blues shows his true magic; as if born with a guitar and as clean as any guitarist on this list!

Gary Moore has done it all from Blues,Heavy Metal, and Jazz Fusion guitar playing. Gary started young and struck up a friendship with Peter(Fleetwood Mac)Green so much that Greeny basically gave away his classic '59 Les Paul to Gary which Gary treasures to this day! Classic Gary Moore albums Black Rose by Thin Lizzy, Back on the Streets,Victims of the Future and anything with Coliseum II also Live albums We Want Moore and Live at the Marquee are blistering hot! In concert Gary Moore is outstanding his playing is clean, technically sound, with emotion and power! Really anything less than five stars then someone has not listened to this Irish axe wizard!

A magnificent bluesy/rock guitarist who puts all his soul into his music. His style can vary from very easy (Parisienne Walkways) to difficult (Still Got The Blues). His solo work is magnificent, and his music with Thin Lizzy is equally tremendous, if not even more so, demonstrated by the riff and incredible solo and duel with Scott Gorham on 'Black Rose'. A great guitarist.

His early work is righteous trash but he seems to have discovered his muse in recent years. Capable of some pretty impressive work.

Lights in to a solo like he's breaking out of jail in broad daylight. A few minutes of Gary Moore will make ANYONE say, 'that cat can PLAY a guitar'! Has delved in to several different styles, but has NEVER done anything "half-assed".

Even though he isnt widely known in the United States, whenever my band plays his material, the crowd losses it! They love it, and always inquire as to who wrote that music. Gary, were helping to spead the gospel for ya in Cleveland.

Absurdly overlooked guitar genius with the ability to out-metal the "metal" guys and out blue the "blues" guys. He wasted many of his formative years grinding out technically proficient but all-too forgetable metal wankings before rediscovering his blues roots with astonishing results. While employing the very same guitar that blues giant Peter Greene used to legendary status, Moore's hair raising solos on his own 'Still Got the Blues' lit the fuse that resulted in greater and greater efforts which cemented him as a master among his peers with regard to his tone, richness, and finger speed. Jamming with the likes of Albert Collins, Albert King, and a host of others left all chiming in with righteous praise of this incredible Irish axeman. If he would just can the horn section, cut his blues act down to a power trio, and tour the United States every once in a while, he may get the a word-of-mouth groundswell that would gain him the recognition that he richly deserves.
