This reminds me of the novel/film 'Brewster's Millions', which although I am yet to watch (I have committed a sin in depriving myself of a films starring both John Candy and Richard Pryor), but I have a feeling that I wouldn't have a lot of trouble spending this much money...
My CD and guitar collections would receive a tremendous boost, and I'd probably give the surplus to charity...

Depending on the neighborhood, in my town this might get you a decent house, with some change left over for a new car, or just a hefty down payment on a really good one.

I would see how much money I could spend on a new computer to get it top-notch!

wow it would be hard to spend it all in one day. frugal me would want it to last. I would get a nicer house in the country, two good dependable cars. pay off all debts, give a chunk to charity, help out some friends and relatives, invest some in stock that would bring in some money. that spending it all in one day would be awful hard though. it i had to i would i guess.oh and maybe take a book a dream vacation.

That would be very easy.Between donating to charities and outfitting my band with top of the line equipment,(and maybe a new powdercoat for my Hawg)I'd probably be done in a matter of hours.

Knowing me I'd STILL be frugal with it even it it WERE given to me for spending. There's no doubt I'd probably spend it on clothes where I work...I'd get my 15% associate discount and be able to spend more. Hehehe. I'm smart that way.

I'm sure I'd love it, but I'd have to find something to spend it on. I think I'd run out of things after about 1000 dollars.

By a new home, start a business, and buy tickets to all the world destinations I want to see and visit!

I'd pay off of my household's debts. I'd move back to Texas and then I'd buy a house with a good chunk of land for myself, my brother, and I to share (I'm big on family, what can I say?) I'd pay for the repairs on my cousin's home, and I'd pay for my schooling and invest the rest.

I'd first get my family's collective finances in the black and arrange for some needed home repairs. Secondly, I'd go through my small wardrobe and weed out old worn out stuff and fill in the holes. No sense going totally overboard, either. I'd stick to the practicals, for the most part. I would probably plunk down for a new computer, and pass mine down the line. As for the rest (a majority of the sum), I'd be making phone calls to spread the wealth around to some of my favorite charities. No sense getting greedy and hogging it all for me. Gotta make it do some good for my 'hood. :)

I would probably buy myself a nice ass house in cash, and with whatever I had over I would grab nice cars, great food, and expensive booze.

I'd pay off my debt, pay off immediate family debts, pay tuition for both my husband and myself for the rest of our schooling needs, and invest the rest.

If you buy a house in DC you could blow a mil in ten minutes. . .

This is kind of mind-boggling, but I 'm sure I'd have no difficulty blowing a million bucks in one day.

I think I'm equal to this challenge. First off, if allowef to, I'd pay off all my debts. Then I'd buy a ton of new clothes, 2 new computers, and a few other itens. With the remainder, I'd invest. I need an old age nest egg.

What FranksWildYears said. I couldn't possibly make rational or worthwhile decisions concerning that much cash in one day! Buying something that will only increase in value seems like a good way to give yourself some time to think.

One word, Real Estate. OK that's two words but its a place you quickly burn off the million and be assured that you would hold onto value. I'd probably spread it around, three or four residential properties.

I'd snap up a bunch of X-Box 360s and flip them on E-Bay for about a 500% profit! I'd also buy lots of guns, a truck, and a car that women would be impressed by.
