I was never a huge fan of the peanut butter and jelly combination. When I was a kid I often had peanut butter on toast for breakfast, and occasionally jelly on toast, but I rarely combined them.

yes they can go together. there are so many jellies to pick from for peanut butter and jelly. i still like a peanutbutter and jelly sanwhich. the flavors blend will together.
