I'm always opposed to mixing Coke with good alcohol. I'm also not a fan of the spiced rum that a lot of people seem to prefer in rum and cokes. Good dark rum definitely has it's uses, and even light rum is useful in frozen drinks, but neither of those need to be anywhere near Coke.

While a steller combination, numbah is right with these not being exclusive. Rum goes with Dr. Pepper and other additives, and more then just rum can spice up your Coke. I like Old Number 7 in my Coke from time to time, as one example.

I put them together quite a bit, but they don't require the other to be complete. There are other things I can put in Coke and there are other things I can add rum to.

Known where I came from as the "Dark and Dirty". Two parts dark and the result is always dirty.
