 | Redoedo (41) 08/14/2004 | Gore carried Illinois easily in 2000, largely due to Bush's lack of popularity in Chicago and other urban areas in the state. The state Republican Party is in shambles, and simply lacks the organization, legitimacy and resources to energize people to vote for Bush. A Kerry victory is likely here, but not as decisive as the one Gore realized in 2000.
