Celtics without a doubt. Unlike baseball, basketball is not a marathon sport.

Regular reviewers should know what I'm going to say before I even write this. I can't stand baseball, hockey's not any better, and the NBA is my favorite sport. As long as you're not suggesting something as horrendous as the Lakers, I'm going to take the NBA team anytime. Celtics, no competition.

I guess since I have to pick, I'll hold my nose and say the Yankees are the best of these dynasties.
If you're asking me which dynasty I like, its easy. The Canadiens, "le bleu, blanc et rouge," Les Habitants, have been the soul of Quebec for decades, and have paid their fans back with two dozen championships. This despite the fact that with free-agency and the loss of territorial protection they are no longer the "Flying Frenchmen" but the "United Nations Association"

Yankees. Not that I'm particualrly a Yankee fan (or a Yankee hater) but it's baseball and that will most often win out with me. You have to respect the tradition and the history. Go up to a non sports fan and rattle off a few names from the Canadians and the Celtics, and other than maybe Larry Bird you'll get dead stares. Rattle off names like Ruth, Mantle, and Reggie Jackson and they at least have some idea who you are talking about.

While each represents the only team that has won a significant proportion of championships (Yankees 1 out of 4 since the beginning of the league; Canadians slightly higher), only the Yankees have managed to continue their dominating ways in the age of the free agent. Their massive revenue base in the largest local market in North America includes full Stadium revenues, huge TV deals and merchandising that must be the envy of every corporation on the planet, has enabled them unparralleled ability to feild an elite team based on payroll. It's always nice to see a team like the White Sox, with a few stars and a solid bench of journeymen win in that kind of environment.

The Celtics were definitely the most dominating dynasty during their stretch run, and would be my pick. Over the entire course of their history the Yankees have probably been US professional sports most consistently good franchise, but I am not a fan of them.

Canadians, simply because I hate basketball and dislike the Yankees. Mantle vs. Richard, Bird vs. DiMagio, Lafleur vs. Russell; what more can you ask for?

The Montreal Canadiens have won a record 24 Stanley Cups since the formation of the NHL (they also won in 1916), with Toronto a distant second at 13. The Habs also hold the record for most consecutive championships with five, accomplished between the years 1956 and 1960 inclusive. There also just as many legends, and lore in hockey as in baseball...I guess it depends where your sports preferences lie.

When you think Dynasty , you think YANKEES. 26 World Championships and legendary players, games, series etc....Yanks are a Sports Dynasty for the ages. Celtics? Yeah right.... about 20 years ago. Yeah the Celtics won a lot ,but UCLA used to be a College Basketball Dynasty as well. Ditto the Canadiens. Who knew? You have to be a Hockey fan to know this.

Okay, I'd hate to admit it because I hate them with every ounce of my being. I wish bad things upon them. I wish bad things on their players. I wish bad things upon their families and pets. But the Yankees are easily the greatest sports dynasty there is. They win a World Championship on average once every three years- enough said.

Overall, even though I HATE them, I'd say Yankees for dominance over the years and Celtics for dominance in a concentrated period.Even though I'm a Boston native, I'd have been bored had I grown up in the 60's like my father did when the Celtics won 9 straight titles or whatever it was. I'll go with Yankees. Although it is only my 3rd favorite sport, the great thing about football is that, while there have been some dynasties, no one team dominates for years and years.
