I'd pick Yale, although my daughter would kick my ass and demand Stanford.

Tough call, but this is one that I'd never make. I don't have kids yet, so I can't ask them where they would want to go (it would greatly depend on what they want to study and which school had the most to offer for that specific area of study). Since I don't have their input, I'll blindly have to choose Yale; my choice would probably be different after I have kids, though. As far as my two sisters, well, I'm the only one who finished college out of us three girls; one sister is not interested, and the other simply doesn't do well academically, so the free education would probably be turned down by them. But, can I get the free education instead? I'll take it in a heartbeat!

I'd choose Stanford (in a very tight 3 way race) only because 1) I live on the west coast, and 2) it is the most beautiful (and tasteful!) campus I've seen in the U.S.

Stanford and Vandy are about the same. Yale is ,arguably , as good as Harvard or Princeton. Here's a better range of schools: Pick one Free education from: 1) One of the Service Academies ( US Military Academy , US Naval Academy, Air Force Academy ) 2) Brigham Young University 3) Howard University You can either go to a Military school where you'll be committed to the Military fror Five years after graduation OR you can go to Utah to a strict religious school OR you can go to , arguably, the Best Historically Black College and University. Take your pick !

They are all good schools, I guess I'd take Yale, then Stanford, then Vanderbilt. If the kid joined Skull and Bones, I'd disown him. Then again, I don't exactly come from " the right people," no Mayflower ancestry or anything like that, and neither does my girlfriend so that's unlikely.
