Commenting, as one reviewer does below, that King could "only" play the blues, is sort of like saying Glenn Gould could "only" play classical piano. An astonishing player, sharp, innovative and part of the the great "King" troika of bluesmen.

Just shut up and play, not with your teeth, behind your back, upside down, what ever, just play and stop with the stupid, idiotic tricks because they are foolish and a waste of time.

Great bluesman and early grandpappy of rock n roll.He played raw and loud before it was fashionable.

I just don't think he should be number one is all. Great at blues, but only blues. An ewxcellent guitarist is both versatile, has chops, and expands musical frontiers. As a blues guitarist, it is impossible to expand frontiers on an unevolved form of music.

I caught Albert just three days before he died at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, California. He played upside down, backwards, and left-hand like Hendrix and Dick Dale. He was a master at feel and picking out stinging leads while puffing on his pipe with his head thrown back and his eyes closed. I have a few of his recordings, but they don't touch what the man could do before you live. Like the others in the "King" triumverate of blues giants, Albert was a true master and is sorely missed.
