I would like to think most everyone has had this happen a time or two. Meaning of course not literally fighting over someone. Yes I have done this  once,and no it was not my finest hour and something Im really not that proud of...

Never a good idea. If you won the fight, it would leave you thinking for the rest of your life whether he really loved you more and chose you or it was because you forced him into choosing you.

Well the first thing I interpret when I read this, is a jealous lover fighting over a man/woman. This is definitely not a positive experience. All as it does is cause pain because someone who you have to win is not worth having. That is because you will always be insecure around someone you have to fight for because that means that a lot of people get attracted to them. And if someone better comes along, you may have to fight again. That is not real love to me. If someone really loved you, they wouldn't allow you to fight over them, because they would just reject the other person. Just the fact that there is a fight means that their love is only on the condition that you can attract or satisfy them, which isn't real love. Fights over 'love' are amongst the most nastiest, malicious fights and it is really not worth ruining your life over. But if fighting over a lover meant fighting for them ie protecting them from danger, then this is more positive. Because that is a chance to prove and show your love and loyalty to them. But the fighting part wouldn't necessarily be fun.

I don't think its good to fight over anyone, for their honour is a completely different thing, but to fight competitively for the love of someone is sometimes not worth it. I've learnt the hard way that if someone is meant to be with you, they will and trying to force it to happen is not the best way to go.

There is an occasion when this should be done but probably not when 'competing' for the love/favor of the opposite sex. I would fight over the honor of a loved one/wife in a new yourk minute. (to protect, my wife could probably handle most fools herself in her own way, Ive seen her do it...whoa!) This would be done only if not given a choice.
