Mexican food first, then Chinese and Italian (depending on what it is).

When prepared with cheap ingredients or when shortcuts are taken, Mexican food can taste like rancid horse meat. When prepared properly however, it is hands-down my favorite.

Got it..... I'll have General Tso's Cordon Bleu Tandoori Fettucini Sushi in a Burrito please.

It's a tough decision, but I'm going to go with Mexican food, largely because we're not ensured that we're getting high quality food. Even relatively bad Mexican food tastes pretty good, mostly because the hot peppers cover up the mistakes. The same can't be said for some of the other choices.

I'm going to say the American version of Chinese food, but this changes every few years. What doesn't seem like that long ago I was all about Italian.
louiethe20th 05/31/2008
Italian and Chinese are a toss up with Mexican in 2nd.
Astromike 05/28/2008
Chinese food hands down!! Even tho its mostly "American" chinese food here in America, so many DELICIOUS varieties to choose from!! Its a staple part of my diet, and yes my Chinese food has NO msgs thank you very much. Who doesnt like a GOOD General Tso's chicken?!

Since Mexican food is not considered ethnic food in my house, I'll go with Italian. Italian food is pretty hard to beat. They've cornered the market on sandwiches, and pasta dishes rank as my favorite. Great and varied cuisine in both it's American incarnation and true authentic italian cooking.

I gave a 3-star rating because I don't know what's to choose here. I like them all but it really depends on how well the food is prepared. Any cuisine has its good dishes and bad dishes, and very much depends on the personal taste. To me, I just love everything as long as it is prepared well.

Indian. I'd have vindalu for breakfast if my gastric system would allow. Unfortunately I work in a fairly crowded office.
uncnc08 05/26/2008
I would have to choose mexican, although mediterranean comes in a close second.

Gin. (OK, stick in an imported onion!)

Don't make me choose! Come on, how am I supposed to pick here! Mexican food is a staple of the diet of most people here in Phoenix and Carne Asada is a work of frickin art when done well. I can mess up Chinese and Japanese food even better now since my year overseas and I've tried a dazzling variety of both. Italian? I can even cook Italian as I might just have some Sicilian in me and its some of the most fantastic foods out there. I can't choose...
Bird808 11/24/2006
Going to have to go with Indian for this one. Just love my curry and pilau rice way too much.
LadyJesusFan77 7 11/23/2006
My absolute favorite: Mexican!
BlueOrchid 11/22/2006
I looooove Italian...especially spaghetti and angel hair pasta.
LastMessenger3 11/18/2006
That's virtually impossible to pick one considering the fact that I like veriety. I might feel like having Italian today, Thai tomorrow, Indian next week, and Middle eastern next month. Veriety allows you to deffirentiate what good and what bad, what you like and what you don't. If I had to pick one ethnic food under the gun point - Middle-eastern will probably win.
madamedragonli ly 06/09/2006
I like variety so I would have trouble picking just one. Thats why nobody asks me anymore where i want to eat because I can't make up my mind. I'm usually happy with whatever they choose.
kattwoman 05/17/2006
i have to say chinese food. i don't order it very often so when i do i really enjoy it.
vicsailgarden 02/16/2006
Thai - my gosh! There is NO doubt! coconut, curry, lemongrass, chilies, jasmine rice, mangoes, YUMMMM!
trebon1038 01/21/2006
Tough call but love food!!! Lived in France for awhile and fell in love with Provence and its use of light sauces and olive oil...I also got a taste of Moroccan food from a family that worked with me...as far as American ethnic....hum...love a good Chinese buffet and we have a great Tex Mex place here in town. Got used to good Mexican food in Oklahoma on the horse farms where we had Mexicans working....the one guy was always cooking for us!
caphillsea77 01/20/2006
Italian! There are so many components... Bread, Salad, Pasta, Red Sauce or White Sauce, Veal, Chicken, Seafood, Cheeses, Good Wine, Pastries/Dessert... They all rock and Italian is usually always filling and satisfying. None of these others hold a candle to good Italian food.

In my life I've been fortunate enough to've tried cuisine from numerous corners of the globe, yet IMO, Indian food stands head and shoulders above them all. In fact one of my biggest regrets upon moving to Tallahassee last year was that there wasn't a decent Indian eatery to be found. Still, I enjoy eating it whenever I'm out of town, and look forward to the day when I can again enjoy it on a far more regular basis.

Chinese food is my favorite but Mexican is a close second but only because of the use of sour cream and guacamole.
kamylienne 12/24/2005
Ouch, this is a tough choice. I love sushi enough to put Japanese food up as a top choice (which, though it technically originated in China, was "perfected" in Japan), but it is beat out overall by Chinese food because, well, I miss my mom's cooking. DoorGunner, you are truly ignorant; I have worked in my parents' restaurant (guess what, they're Chinese!), and we were strict in our adherence to sanitation standards. Poor sanitation occurs with less-than-ethical businesses, regardless of race. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
Djahuti 12/22/2005
Tough choice, depends largely on my mood-but Indian is my current fave.I also love Italian,Chinese,Mexican,Mediterranean and Japanese.French Food has never been a favorite, though.
oscargamblesfr o 12/22/2005
Italian, followed by Chinese, then Mexican.
Wavebacker 12/21/2005
My favorite would be Japanese - Sushi. Good sushi is worth the price you pay for it. The rest of the choices all are fairly standard or too exclusive. Chinese and Italian you can have anywhere, anytime. French and Indian are for specific tastes. Mexican is best when done right at a good place. Portugese Food is incredibly good and I almost chose it as the favorite.
earthbound 12/21/2005
Indian without a second of hesitation. I owe so much to the Hare Krishnas devotees for selling me that cookbook on the street, in those lean days after I had stopped eating meat and had been living on pasta and lentil soup for months. May the sun shine on you all in your pleasing orange robes. After that Italian, then Mexican and then the rest.
Molfan 12/21/2005
Would pick Italian for first place. followed by Mexican and Chinese. there are some terrific meals that come from all three.
daedalus 12/21/2005
I would have to go with Mexican, but not by a lot. I am a big fan of beef, cilantro and avocado and that is what puts it at the top for me.
Sundiszno 12/21/2005
Given the choices here, I will give the RIA old-timers who know me best about three nanoseconds to guess - yep, you're right, Italian. However, I have to say that I have had some exquisite Chinese meals (there used to be a restaurant in DC - not sure if it's still there - that was actually run by the PRC government, and boy was the food outstanding there). I'm not sure what generic Mediterranean food is supposed to mean, but I can take Greek and Spanish easily (best roast wild boar I ever had was at a hole-in-the-wall taverna in Athens, and the second best filet mignon was in Madrid - the best filet mignon was at a Spanish restaurant in Pittsburgh). Three-way tie on my list for French, Indian, and Japanese - all in the so-so category, but OK on occasion.
